Dias from MU consensus first team.

#7 from Indiana first team?? not sure he even starts for MU.

Looking at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams looks like over 1/3 of the All Americans are International Players. Can't believe any fans of other schools would whine over international players or any one else would foolishly criticize MU for the use of International players given the level of use of Internationals in collegiate soccer.

Go Herd! Congrats to Dias!!

Don't be ridiculous, that Bezerra kid from IU is really good... One of the NCAA player of the year finalists, Big10 Player of the Year, All-American, etc. He had two prime scoring chances against us and fortunately for us he missed.

Congrats to Dias, very well deserved.
I probably overstated it a tad but he wasn’t all that against us. He was spent at the end jogging around and in fact just fell down and turned the ball over which led to our winning goal. #17 for Indiana was the only one that flashed relative to our players IMO.

I remember the one header in close. He reacted like "how could I have missed that?" With the hands to the head!

Who cares what other teams think about how we won the National Championship?

They didn’t win it and are jealous that we were able to have the success we had. If they want to change the rules in the future, then they can. However, I doubt very seriously that would happen because that would be like European basketball leagues deciding not to take NBA leftovers.

One other thing, Marshall is now the only school in this state with a National Championship in a sport that actually matters. All of us should act like we know that, too.

I know it’s mostly WVU fans saying this nonsense. They downplay it because they’ve never seen one nor will ever see one. This Championship is for all of WV, not just for Huntington, as it’s become very obvious WV will never win a National Championship in any sport.

Marshall and it’s fanbase needs to embrace this opportunity and constantly make the entire state feel a part of it. By doing that and continuing the success, it will build the fanbase in the state. Everyone wants to be apart of a winner and WVU just isn’t a winner at the highest level in any sport. I don’t see that changing any time soon.

College soccer is like Women's Basketball - to be successful, all you have to do is honestly try. Doesn't even have to be as hard as you try to win in men's basketball and football, but if you throw some dollars that way, build some nice facilities, you're probably going to make some noise. Most schools who have soccer have it so they can have womens' soccer teams for Title IX.

After its basketball glory ended, Indiana became irrelevant in all Big 10 sports, so soccer is their lone bragging point. They just lost the championship to a C-USA school, and that's a hard pill to swallow for fans who've convinced themselves that there is something really braggable about being at the top of collegiate soccer. Excuses are inevitable.

licious - can't go along with you here. If you define success in men's soccer as playing in the college cup consistently (final 4) and winning it every 2-3 years, then I believe it takes more than just a great facility to get to that level.

I'm being cruel - I'm just diagnosing the reason the Indiana folks are so salty. Maybe I'm over-simplifying.

You’re way too old to have that kind of temper. It can’t be good for your blood pressure.
