They could collude with each other and there would never be a need for the exectutive to be an executive for all the people. We give the bigger states more representation in the House based on populaton. The Senate evens it out with same number of Senators. WV gets two and California gets two. California gets more electoral votes than WV

Here is the thing if enough states vote for the candidate that you like then they win. The candidate has to win the popular vote in that state to win the nomination it is the fairest system we have. Just because a State like TX or CA has more population does not mean that they get to chose what’s best for WV

Think about what you are saying. You would have an executive that 2 or 3 states could almost hand pick every time, whether they be a D or a R. They would probably not even end up being a D or R but, a pawn for those 2 or 3 states. They could veto any legislation outside of those 2 or 3 states. They could funnel immense amounts of money and power to those two or 3 states. Natural disaster hits your state? Sorry, we need that money in these two or three states.

Primarily the senate. But also, each elector from CA represents 700,000 people. Each one from Wyoming represents 200,000 people. Their vote counts 3.5 times as much as someone from CA.

There's a reason for that. We became a collection of states. It gives representation to all states. If not, why join together?
I understand how the system works and why it was originally set up that way. I just don’t think that system of government makes sense anymore and would prefer a much more federalist government system.
And I’m well aware that that would mean CA would have much less power to do things that I generally like.
