WTF is going on?

Can we get competent people in charge of this?

They're either lying about it being from Iran or they're telling hte truth and we're just letting Iran drones fly above our airspace or they have no clue WTF is going on.

None of these are acceptable.

None of this drone stuff makes any sense. Supposedly, some of these drones are the size of an SUV. They are not some hobby unit, but yet they can’t track them, capture them, or even say what they are.

i bought a cheapo drone online last week. after i got it, was messing around with the dogs inside that evening and never flew it any after. my son decided to take it outside the next day and give it a shot. he said it took off to the east and he couldn't get it to turn around; haven't seen it since. it's like those drones in NJ are summoning the smaller ones to get them ready for an attack.

AI drone invasion. I’ve noticed the red light on my desktop has been looking at me angrily the past couple days.

Drones the size and sophistication of those over NJ have to be constructed and controled by a government. Not necessarily our government.

There is a zero percent chance these things are from Iran. In fact, I'd say there's a better chance that they are NHI than from Iran.

Someone shoot one down and find out
Maybe they've tried to. If they had and weren't able to - say, maybe our weapons systems, which are all computer based, wouldn't function - you think they'd tell us that? Or, if our anti- drone technology doesn't have any impact on these things, you think they're going to go public with that?

They aren’t shooting them down because they are ours. If not, we are idiots. Some redneck just needs to get his 12ga out, as low as they are that’s an easy skeet shot.

I think that's feasible.

WHy can't they just say "we know the origin of the drones and they pose no threat to the local residents?"
Because then people will get angry that they are flying drones over where they live and spying allegations etc.

It’s probably recognition (seeing if people will report) and readiness training (for joint base macquire-Lakehurst-dix)

Ok, that's fine.

Then just say that.

It's not like it's "secret" missions. It's on the news.

Years ago I bought one from Costco for my kid. Fvcking thing was impossible to control. Sure enough, first launch was the last and that was $40 in the trash.

i think i paid around $60. i was controlling it fairly well inside scaring the hell out of the dogs. my kid said he flew it out over the yard and it just kept going [toward NJ]. said he watched it until he couldn't see it any longer. it likely crashed into the side of North Mountain.

This shit was happening all over England about 2-3 weeks ago over and near our joint air bases. It ain't us, and we can't do anything to stop it.

I have a theory but, I have to watch what how I word it. So, I am going to word it like this.

The US has had a ongoing battle with the Chinese drone manufacture's, particularly DJI. DJI is the largest drone manufacturer. They are hard to get now as the US has held up their products in customs. There is not an embargo(yet) but, they are held in customs. DJI makes everhthing from cosumer grade to higher end professional grade stuff used in mapping and locating and photgrammatry. Very popular products. The US military and feds have banned their products for their use on their property. The state of Florida has done the same. DJI at its price points and capability is way ahead of everybody else.

One of the major import areas is the port of New York and New Jersey.

My theory is draw your own conculsions. Maybe it is not a theory but, a hypothesis. I think someone is giving us the finger.

If they are foreign (Chinese, Iran etc) they are definitely being operated inside the United StTes. Drones like these only have 8-9 hour run time and operate at speeds around 100-120 mph. So you are looking at max distance of 200 miles or so to give you time to get to your destination fly around and then make it back to operation area

Here's my question: we have the most advanced radar and tracking systems in the entire world. You're telling me they can't follow these things back to their point of origin to identify who is doing this? Bullshit.

We know who and what these things are, but we aren't willing to intervene either because of fear of escalation or because we don't have the capabilities to stop them. Either one should be deeply concerning.

Exactly. Hell just get some sniper with a high powered scope to shoot one done and be doe. With it

Not necessarily dji but someone screwing with us

I can understand why we wouldn’t want to shoot one of the drones down over a densely populated area, but once they were over water, I’d blast the suckers.

Eyewitness accounts and flight path monitoring from civilians seem to indicate that's where they're coming from. If that's the case, pop one coming or going. Doesn't seem that difficult. Also, if you've never seen videos of people trying to send drones in to Area 51, look up those videos. We have the tech to drop those things straight out of the sky as soon as they enter restricted space. It's like they hit a wall and just fall.

I know we have tech that can read a license plate for space. I can’t believe we can’t follow the path of a bus size drone.

Shooting down a drown can land you in some hot water. Not to say I wouldn't do it if was a Chi Comm attack or spy. But, hate to inform everyone, you don't own your air space. Not even in your yard or property. It just is what it is. Virtually all air space can be considered navigable and the US Government has sole sovereignty over air space. Now, there are rules for drones flying under certain levels, over populated areas, schools, etc. But, if you pop one down you could be in some hot water.

Plus taking down a drone with a rifle is not easy. They move and they maybe too high up, wind moving the bullet, etc.

You are right and it drives me crazy. I don’t own the the air above me, I don’t own the mineral rights below me, and according to my niece’s husband who is a fire chief, I don’t even own the rain water falling off my roof. From now on, I’m refusing to step off the deck. I know for sure I own it because I built the damned thing.

It's complete bullshit. The faa knows if you're flying a drone that weighs 56 pounds but we have no clue about these. Blow one up and be done with it

Kinzinger thinks there is a more simple answer.

“Look, if it’s Iran or if it’s aliens, they’re actually doing a really good job complying with FAA rules and laws,” Kinzinger said. “So my guess is this is probably some company testing some drones. And they’re not required to tell everybody what they’re doing as long as they’re complying with the law.”

I went down the rabbit hole on this last night. I swear, every single video I have seen posted of this shit looks like regular airplanes. Except for the video claimed to be recent that was obviously a B-2 bomber and was filmed a couple years ago, those are definitely not normal airplanes; some moron posted it without sound, then someone else posted the original with sound and it sounded exactly like a low flying B-2 sounds (loud as hell).

I think the explanation is simple: most people do not look at the sky, some morons have started a panic, and now other morons are finally looking up instead of at their screens and seeing planes at night in a region with extremely busy skies. And probably some actual drones mixed in as well, hell our sheriff was flying one here in town last night looking for a robber.
