Edit: Running Election Night Thread

When I saw the responses to the exit poll survey conducted by Fox it was obvious that the prediction of a yuge wave wasn’t happening. Almost every question asked of voters trended toward the Dem side, minus concerns about crime.

I'm sure some of it is Trump....but suburban females and R stance on abortion is still a big issue driving voters IMO. May be a hill R's are willing to die on...but they will die on it.

I guess 7 to 10% interest rates, your 401k declining by double digits, high crime, and high inflation are not enough for people to change their minds.

People who make abortion their #1 issue have no moral compass.

Many people are isolated from these effects so far believe it or not. If you are upper to middle class it isn't hitting you badly yet. If you had kids in private schools often times many of the COVID edicts didn't harm you like it did a poor public school kid. If you just got a student loan pardon that helped you a ton. If you had already locked in a super low interest rate you aren't feeling this.

But if we see recession in '23 it's going to start mattering more. If you lose your job and can't sell your house (or buy one bc mortgate 7%) the pain will happen.

I'm planning to prey on people I see bitching about gas prices, crime, inflation, $5.00 dozen eggs, and can't afford to do anything. They vote for democrats, can't afford nothing, and bitch like hell.

Look up here in Michigan. Since April of 2020, these people have done nothing but rail on Whitmer and her policies. Roads are beat up like hell, everybody locked up for two years, gas is higher than most places, and people can't afford to pay their utility bills. On top of that, all the kids are walking around without an education, but they know what homosexuals like to do in their spare time. I've already destroyed one person on FB this morning who made the mistake of bitching, while at the same time, gloating about Whitmer. **** it, I may go to jail by the end of the day. Facebook jail, I should say. I'm no virgin in FB jail.

But, all those people can kill some more babies though, which is issue #1. Can't afford to eat nothing but rice, but let's make sure we can kill an 8 month old baby in the womb.

I have to admit, I got mad and turned it off.

Some of these local whack jobs in my area are winning. I mean they are far out left wing lunatics. Defund the cops. Abortion until the kid is in preschool. Hate America. Transqueer and Gender confused nuts.

I got mad and just walked outside and said I am putting the house up for sale and gave my boss notice via text.

Hell, may not have a job in the morning or a place to live.

NC is just a lost state. I need to move to the backwoods of Idaho.

I'm going back to Florida or to South Carolina as soon as I get the opportunity.

What a snowflake.

You moved here 5 or 7 years to late. I moved here in 2003. It waa awesome. Started changing around 2013 or so.

We are out of here one day as well.

It was changing looooooooong before 2013
Well yehh but in my area it really accelerated in the last 10 years or so. It is becoming expensive and the teh companies are brining thst Hokies type mentality here. It was way different in 2003.

Damn, too bad they’ve brought prosperity there and made people want to live there so much that housing prices have gone up. I’m sure you’ll find a shithole to suit you.

Maybe businesses should have stayed out of NC.

it was already fine here and they left the left coast

Moved to Raleigh just over 2 years ago.
Your issue there is influx from the northeast and the tech jobs coming. As Apple moves in and the libs move in it has changed it dramatically. Rising costs and left leaning schools and local govt. Wake County is a solid blue county now. Becoming more like a left coast blue. The biggest issue I see is rising cost. It was very affordable years ago but, the cost is rising that it may get out of control for the averag joe.

Liberal mentality: "once we get ours, institute policy that continually benefits us while promising (crumbs) to everyone else." Typical glass ceiling thinking and actions which ends up bleeding the goose dry that gave them the golden eggs. (aka Left coast and NE)

With UNC, Duke, and NC State pumping out liberal ideology, inflows of additional left leaning minions, it was inevitable. NC has always had a strong Dem base. They just were not a crazy as the newest generation of Dem. Christ, the state houses were controlled by Dems for over a hundred years.

Yeah, as long as we live here my kids will never be in the public schools. I am kind of expecting to head back to the Gulf Coast or down around Charleston, SC in the next 2-3 years. We like those areas better. I think we like the "stuff to do" around Raleigh but the people just don't seem to be as kind. Way more stressful lifestyle around here. Maybe we'll stay and move out toward Sanford or Benson...somewhere 30-40 min outside of downtown.

I will say that I have enjoyed seeing a lot of Marshall fans in the area though. Ended up buying a house and a couple that are both Marshall alums live right across the street...just one ECU fan in between us and them.

Stay out of public school in Charleston too

Charleston can be lib in some places. The northeast libs bought a lot of places down there. Maybe more confined that the Triangle.

I am going where the rednecks are next time. But, the libs conrol all the metro areas. Raleigh is going to turn into a minature silicon valley type place. Expensive as hell and full of poppycock.

Yeah, I'm going to wait until my house doubles in value and then leave. I'm guessing 2-3 years.

In all seriousness there are indicators we are headed for a mega crash in home prices.

For most of the country I believe that could be true. We bought our house here just before prices started to skyrocket. Where we're located I don't expect to see a "crash." Maybe it slows down? That's likely...but even if we had a late 2000's kind of crash, I believe the Triangle area is going to fare much better than most other places. Of course I'm not a real estate expert so that could be wrong. If so, hopefully I won't take much of a hit since I'm not one of those folks from the northeast that came in and paid $50-75K cash over asking price for a house.

Sanford is growing...probably a good area to buy and hold some land. With kids though, I have no interest in being that far out. Sanford is a good hour outside of Downtown Raleigh. I'll stick to the burbs where we have been for a long time.

you guys and selling and moving don't realize how lucky you are. i live in a 3/4 of a million $$ home in bumfvck WV, would likely be a >$2M home an hour away in winchester, va, and i'm stuck with it. no sale. if it were up to me, i'd sell that son of a bitch at the drop of a hat and buy something a 1/4 of it's size up in the seneca rocks area. but, nooooooooo, no can do. so, all i do is keep dropping more $$$$ in it. i'm going to fix that bitch up to the point it could be sold for upwards of a mill and a half or 2 mill to some northern va yuppy liberal granola gay couple and see if the wife still says hell no. she likely will in which case one of my kids will get to sell and benefit from the fruits of my investment when we're pushing up daisies.

Sounds to me like you have the perfect location. I always smile and wave to the only neighbor I have within a hundred yards, but I secretly have fantasies of bulldozing their house and buying the empty lot.

Does your place come with a woke portable fireplace? Asking for a friend.

Is it just me or does Fetterman look like a plumber listening to Hochul explain how she does not have enough cash to pay him.

Good analogy. How old is this pic? Fetterman has put on a shitload of weight.

I am not sure when the photo was taken, Hochul Tweeted it out on November 9th. My wife came across it and pointed it out to me, she did not initially think it looked like the beginning of a porno.
