AND, Mississippi is, believe it or not, still poorer than WV, the poorest state in fact. And the state has TWO teams in the Greatest Conference, plus still has a deeply segregated higher ed system with two I-AA black colleges as well. We have faraway USPAM right now in the Big 12 but who knows in the future and that is all. All of the sports air is sucked out of that state long before you get down to USM.
