I thought Norfolk State was our 2nd open date.Originally posted by whf2:
Schedule will be much harder this year because if we don't start until 9/5 that means we'll only have one open date; big difference from the last year when we've had two open dates in each scheduled year. Only 13 Saturdays from this date until 12/5 (which should be the date of the conference championship game).
Wonder if there is a way to force Norfolk State to 8/29; that would give us a second open date, after the first three games.

our schedule wasn't degraded for playing a fcs school, almost every school does that. we were beat down publicly because we didn't play a p5 school this past year. dropping norfolk state for troy, south alabama, etc someone like that, does little to nothing for us, except cost us a good bit of money.Originally posted by bbneutralfan:
FlyHawk this has been discussed previously - dropping Norfolk State. IMO Hammy may have missed an opportunity to replace Norfolk State with some possibilities from UAB's schedule I.e., Troy. Would have to have been a better opponent but I don't believe he wanted to pay any buyouts. Having Norfolk State on the schedule does nothing more for Marshall than a repeat of this past season of media criticism over a weak schedule even with a potentially weak Purdue.
