Could be, but it’s not in this case. This board is a microcosm of Huntington, Marshall fans, and the state of west virginia. So let’s look at a very related example.
For over 20 years, a Huntington resident (Nick Goff) posted frequently on here. He’s a die-hard Marshall fan and longtime Huntington resident. He’s also tied into local politics, and at the least, he is hosting political fundraisers at his house.
Recently, it was discovered that he has been posting extremely racist comments and support against blacks on a different forum. He has referred to blacks as “savages,” “criminals,” claims they don’t have the intelligence of other races, claims that they have never been able to build and/or continue a first-world civilization, claims he purposely avoids staying at hotels where he knows blacks will be staying, says it’s bad enough to have to fly on the same plane as blacks, claims they smell like weed, and more.
When this was pointed out to his friends on this board - who are also greater Huntington residents and/or Marshall donors/board members - they all refused to respond . . . except for one person who tried defending Goff’s comments as accurate. Only one person - @herdftblfan - spoke out and admitted that Goff’s comments were horrendous.
With everybody else either being quiet about it or defending it, it’s quite obvious, that at the least, Marshall fans overall have subconscious racist feelings towards blacks. And the treatment and bastardized disparate impact treatment of Huff makes that obvious.
