Bail set at $1 million for man who became angry after his weights were moved
A man upset by the fact that his weight lifting equipment was moved started a standoff with state police in Franklin County on Wednesday, authorities said.
Brandon Lynn Mason, 27, of the 1200 block of Paul Mar Drive in Guilford Township, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats, police said.
After becoming angry about his weights at about 3:15 p.m., police said Mason "obtained a handgun, loaded it, and pointed it at" a 52-year-old woman who was standing about two feet away from him.
The woman was able to leave the home and called 911 for help, police said.
A state police special emergency response team surrounded the home at about 4 p.m. after authorities received reports that there were multiple firearms in the house.
Mason eventually surrendered peacefully just before midnight, police said.
He was ordered held in the Franklin County Jail on $1 million bail. Preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 30.
