Grades for the Marshall/Boise State Game

Offense: F
Zero first downs in the second half of a football game. Less than 200 total yards for the game. Enough said.

Defense: A
They got pressure on the quarterback, forced some turnovers, and singlehandedly prevented this game from being a blowout.

Special Teams: B
Robert LeFevre pinned the Broncos deep with a good number of punts Friday night.

Coaching (will break it into two segments this week)

Offensive coaching: F
Not too much needs to be said besides what was said earlier in the thread.

Defensive Coaching: A
Brad Lambert and JC Price deserve a lot of credit for getting their unit ready to play a top flight opponent that will be a force all season.

Overall: D
The defensive performance prevented a failing grade. Time to get back, get ready for the Bobcats of Ohio University, and do something about the offense, because the defense can’t bail you out every week.

Side notes:
The team we faced yesterday was ranked #24 in the country. They are well coached and they have some quality players. That being said, the Herd has to make some adjustments for OU next week. This was a winnable game and I’m not moral victory guy, but the D played outstanding and prevented a blowout. We should have a quality season. All three phases must show up from here on out.
