let's have a no bullshit discussion regarding your views of what gun control laws should or shouldn't look like. trump's tweet:

i haven't an issue with any of this.

found the following on twitter, some of it i can agree with, some of it, no.

  • I have no issue with a waiting period providing it's a waiting period to do an extensive background check. a waiting period just to have a waiting period is nothing more than an avenue to appease proponents of an all out band, imo.
  • no sales by private owners? don't like the idea of shutting that completely down, but surely there could be some procedures enacted on how private gun sales could legally occur.
  • same with sales at gun shows. however, such sales should follow all other laws, i.e. waiting period, background checks, etc.
  • 10 round magazine limit. while i love my 30 round mags, they tend to jam up in my AR because the .300 blackout ammos uses the .223 mags and it just seems really tight when jamming 30 shells into a .223 mag. that said, i have no issue with a 10 round mag limit knowing i probably won't have to worry with anybody coming to collect my 30 rounders, although i'm certain they'll become unusable at some point from wear and tear.
  • no bump stocks - i have no issue with this. don't own one, and you can do the same thing with a rubber band. eek, rubber bands may be on the chopping block next!
  • no cranks . . . wtf is a gun crank? @Y.A.G Si Ye Nots you've mentioned you have a crank in the past, which makes sense with a handle like "rifle", could we get some pics so we can all see what one looks like?
  • Licenses . . . okay, providing this doesn't turn into another damn tax or fee.
  • child lock requirements. like it.
  • minimum age 21. like it.
  • Assault rifle ban . . . mmmmk. define assault rifle. is it a fully automatic rifle? scary looking hunting rifle? what exactly is the definition here?
  • Universal background checks . . . like they're suppose to do now? or, does this fall into trump's "comprehensive" category. however, i believe they should be doing more comprehensive background checks. what that is, i don't know, but something more than it has been.
  • Domestic violence ban . . . i believe the state of WV has that now, do we not? i'm for it. if a person can't control their anger enough to keep from beating on their spouse, they don't need a firearm around to shoot them with.

I think the way to do this, if we were going to, would be to make it so there is a process where person A takes their gun to a dealer, pays some fee to the dealer to manage the sale, and person B buys it “from the dealer” but the money can go directly to person A minus the fee, after whatever else is supposed to happen when someone buys from a dealer.

That being said I’m not sure what any of this would actually accomplish. There’s some sort of weapons that should not be in civilian hands but “assault rifle” is a meaningless scare-word.

The left needs to let this one go. We’re getting no sensible reform when there is a sizeable contingent who actually DOES want to take all your guns away.

This contingent has always been there. It is nothing new. The "assault" weapon ban was an incremental step in the process to their end target which is the elimination of the private ownership of firearms.

Look no further than to Cananda for proof of the incremental nature of their goals...

Agreed. I think it’s a tactical mistake by Democrats to push it though. I don’t think guns matter that much compared to other things to anti-gun people. And I know they matter way way more to pro-gun people.

This process does exist. It's mostly used for out of state private sales, just so the sellar doesn't get hemmed up, potentially. The FFL doesn't get paid, they just process the forms.

Agree completely. Gun grabbers can never explain the difference between an AR15 and a mini-14.

Link for an amazing deal. A LaRue 16" barrel, usually around $300. But for the same price you get a larue trigger ( love them, very crisp, second only to geiselle who's just fractionally better IMO), and a hard case. If you have a poverty pony AR, this is a massive upgrade. Larue barrels are top notch, and you get a carrot-like trigger break with the free MBT trigger, usually $120.

Treat yourself.
