He’s right up there with some of the biggest morons on this board. What he was successful doing was reminding intelligent people that Christianity is a sexist, homophobic, and bigoted religion.

The "tradwife" trend is real. Talking to some of our liberal friends where the wife stays home is interesting. Many are highly educated but have chosen to stay home and be a homemaker between botox, nail, or massage appointments. Go into any suburban gym mid-morning or early afternoon and the place is full of stay at home "moms". My guess is most would identify as liberal leaning.

If you added something about selling essential oils I would say this pretty much describes Mormon wives. Big liberals, those Mormons.

Nahh. Many of the women I'm talking about around here graduated from UNC, DUKE, UVA or some other all girls college in virginia. Pro-choice, women's lib type that went to school to spend daddy's money and find a husband. Countless numbers of them around here.

Huge mormon community here though. The one mormon family I know personally, the husband is a contractor, and the wife has an interior design/store business.

What he said is correct. People just don't want to to hear it. Most of these women are miserable which makes it MORE miserable for us.

Think about how all the roles are reversed now. Some of the biggest threads recently on the main board are about women's sports. Let's be honest they play at like a Little League level. Men are bigger and stronger.

Men make better leaders. Men should fight int the trenches.

Problem is Men have lost their intestinal fortitude.

Women are more nurturing. Better at running the house and kids.

He said what needed to be said. AMERICA HAS GONE DOWNHILL AND THIS IS PART OF IT.

Also, if men are paid more than women, wouldn’t it make more sense for companies to hire women? That’s another false narrative trumpeted by the left.

First, he also blasted gays. But let’s set that aside, because most intelligent people realize (even if they block it out) how bigoted Christianity is against gays.

His comments are as extreme of sexism as anything that’s been recently said by somebody noteworthy. He (and you) think that most women with a career are miserable? Sorry that you’ve done that to your teacher wife. The rest of your comments aren’t even worth entertaining.

I haven't watched all the speech (just saw that one short clip), so the below may not be applicable....

My wife (attorney, super smart, formerly working mom turned part time work, now full time stay at home mom wiht a hobby job) put her career on hold to raise our kids and I constantly stress to my son and daughters how important her role is in the family. She said it was very hard on her psyche to think "I went to all this school that I probably didn't need" but in the end she sacrificed for her family and has no regrets.

My wife has some friends that can do it (though honestly often it's a staff or nannies raising the kids), but it's damn near impossible to be a busy professional and raise your young kids and do both things very well. She just felt like either she was half assing her job, or half assing being a mom, so she went full stay at home mom when baby number two came. I do think we don't set realistic expectations for a lot of people in this regard, especially females.

THere is also a weird dynamic where other women look down on you for being a "doctor wife" or just a "stay at home mom" as a bad pejorative. They often don't know she used to practice law and run a non profit. But then sometimes you realize some of that resentment is that these ladies wished they could actually stay at home but they don't because of financial constraints.

In general, I want my daughters to have the choice to have a career (ie go to college or trade school), but in this house we glorify the importance of running a house, choosing your partner wisely, and importance of family over self. There's not way in hell I'd be where I'm at in my career without my wife. I would need a whole team and staff to do what she does. There is zero shame in being a stay at home mom and I wished more women could do it, but it's so damn expensive out there.

What exactly did he say that was so abhorrent to you, rifle? Did you even listen to his speech or are you just running with the narrative?
There is no way Rifle actually listened to Butker's speech.

Just parroting opinion.

The NFL celebrates wife-beaters and dudes with fourteeen baby momma's, but Harrison Butker saying normie-con stuff is gasoline on a fire.
I listened to all of this 20+ minute speech. I believe either the full video or the transcript that I reviewed were on Forbes.

Without going back and listening again/reading the transcript:

  • He, multiple times, made homophobic comments
  • He urged women to focus on being "homemakers" instead of having a career. He made multiple references to that which is the epitome of sexism.
  • He's telling an auditorium full of recent college grads, that half (assuming a 50/50 ratio) of them should now not use that education and should focus on being a "homemaker" instead of having a career. And again, that was just towards one sex. Imagine if he told the recent black grads that they should focus on blue-collar jobs that require less mental aptitude and less earnings.

All of these references to "stay-at-home-mom," like the kicker, but nothing about urging men to do the same. Why is that?

Oh I’m fine with that too. It often comes down to who makes the most money…but there is also a “motherly instinct” that drives females to want to be home more than men. It’s cross cultural across time as well.

Picture of Rifle right now.
Why are you not acknowledging the horrible bigotry he presented?

There is nothing wrong with the bogus quote that is shown under the kicker's picture. Unfortunately, that is not what he said that is causing the issue.

So, again, why are you avoiding the two groups he showed bigotry towards?

Ohhh! So since it is engrained in a culture, then bigotry is fine. I get it now. It's why racism has been so prevalent in certain areas of the country for so long: It's ok, as it is just part of the culture down there. "It's cross-cultural across time" in those areas. White girls know not to bring a black guy home for dinner, and black guys know they better not hit on white girls. Just part of the culture, so no big deal.

What the kicker did - to two groups - is highlight the archaic belief system towards gays and women. Unfortunately, both of those views are perpetuated by Christianity, so they are given a free pass.

I mean it’s like that in many cultures (even Scandinavian atheist places).

Women more than men want to be home to raise kids and find it more satisfying and on average have a better temperament for it and are better equipped to do it.

It doesn’t mean they have to do that but it’s ok to see this phenomenon and acknowledge it.

SUre, some of it is cultural but much of it is not.

ASIDE - all this Christianity bashing, but the whole notion that the lesser /weak (women) have value is the root of Christianity, it certainly didn't come from the "enlightened" Roman/Greek pagans. This is the thesis of pop-historian Tom Holland's book Dominion which I cannot endorse enough, probably my favorite book of the last decade.

Just read the full text of speech. speech text

Where is the homophobic language and telling women they should stay home??

"Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."

Considering this is a Catholic School, I would imagine he is correct. This is the only time he discussed women remaining home, other than referring to his wife's experience as a stay home.

another aside....I see a lot of dying people every day.

You know what they're proud of? Their kids. Especially when their kids are there helping them die with dignity. When we make small talk it's usually about their kids or spouse, not their job.

Another aside to whwere I'm sympathetic to the hate to some degree in talking about this at a graduation...

In different phases of life we are happy/fulfilled by different things. At 22 all I wanted to focus on was med school, not sure I wanted to hear about family stuff at that time (though I always envisioned havin ga family). A 22 year old female college graduate may not be fulfilled by a baby versus a job in marketing....but when you're 50 things change.

Where is the homophobic language
You should read better, piece of shit as a human:

" . . . people like those here at Benedictine wouldn't be met with anger, but instead met with excitement and pride. Not the deadly sin sort of pride that has an entire month dedicated to it . . . "

other than referring to his wife's experience as a stay home.

Well, yeah, that whole entire portion was focused on women embracing being a "homemaker" and not focusing on a career. That entire portion was urging them to focus on "homemaker" instead of career. It wasn't intended to both a man and woman focusing on family/homemaker. It was focused on women being homemakers, supporting their children and husband, and the husband having a career.

wait, guys rifle is on here lecturing. But, how many posts as he had about sluts, bedding women, slobbering over their bodies, etc.

Don't degrade women, fellas. rifle is offended. All I am saying is the roles have been reversed. Men and and women have lost their identity.

I'm not offended at all. Getting a bunch of girls naked is not degrading them nor is it treating them as second-class citizens like the kicker's beliefs (and Biblical beliefs) do.

America would be a happier place.

Gay pride month? They and the left celebrate that shit 12 months a year. We get it you are gay! Why do we have to hear about your sexual exploits for a month at a time.

Yes it is. You brag about it like junior high, which is ok in this setting. Just don't be a hypocrite.

How did he treat them like a second class citizen? He said maybe they would be more happier doing their traditional roles. Be a mother is more important than being a VP. Me being a dad is the best thing I have done, not sales or awards or anything else.

The only thing he was urging them to do was not get caught up into listening outside voices and listen to god. We get it. You're an atheist. You listen only to yourself.
He, multiple times, made homophobic comments
So you lied?

Where do you ever hear gays talking about their sexual exploits, let alone for a month at a time? Does your wife know where you hang out late at night?

Yes it is. You brag about it like junior high, which is ok in this setting. Just don't be a hypocrite.
It isn't at all. I am not treating them as second-class citizens nor being sexist towards them. Your attempt is failing.

How did he treat them like a second class citizen?
By pushing them to be homemakers instead of having a career while not doing the same for men. Why is that so hard to understand for some of you?

The only thing he was urging them to do was not get caught up into listening outside voices and listen to god.
What? He didn't say a single thing about listening to god in that entire portion. He absolutely was urging them to focus on being a homemaker instead of being career-driven.
So you lied?
Nope. You just can't read well.
He referred to gays about them being sinners, pride month, " . . . support for degenerative cultural values in media . . . ," and "dangerous gender ideologies."

When you lose an argument and are exposed as supporting a homophobe/sexist, you try to bring in an entirely different discussion into play.
You trying to explain to a group how your sexual exploits with women are not demeaning towards women...

Men traditionally should not be homemakers. Women are better suited for that both biologically and their genetic makeup are better suited for that.

We don't need more feminine men.

There are so many things wrong with your analogy that I'd be here all day, instead of watching YouPorn, explaining why.

Men traditionally should not be homemakers.
That's a culture thing. There are plenty of women who don't breastfeed, and if that is the "genetic" feature you're talking about, then women can pump and refrigerate the milk while the man stays home. After all, it makes more sense for the protector to be home all day with the children, right?

A nation needs strong men. To build and maintain the nation. It needs strong men to defend the nation. We do not need Gay Lumberjacks and sissies.

First, he also blasted gays. But let’s set that aside, because most intelligent people realize (even if they block it out) how bigoted Christianity is against gays.

God condemns it. We believe in God.

There's nothing natural about same-sex couples. Nothing. Sexual organs are naturally, reproductive organs. If they weren't for that, we wouldn't have them.

That said, I have nothing against gay people. That's between them and God. I think no less of gay people than anyone else. God loves all, even if they choose to sin.

You don’t understand, therefore you have no clue as to what you're talking about.

What do you think of gay people attempting to force people of faith to agree with homosexuality?

God is love. Sin is evil. We have free will.

He didn't say a single thing about listening to god in that entire portion
Yes he did:

I say all of this to you because I have seen it firsthand how much happier someone can be when they disregard the outside noise and move closer and closer to God's will in their life. Isabelle's dream of having a career might not have come true, but if you asked her today if she has any regrets on her decision, she would laugh out loud, without hesitation, and say, “Heck, No.”

Wonder how the Gays for Palestine feel about this?
Good point. I believe they would want them killed. Of course, the left on this board remains hypocritically silent on that topic.
