Herd is -1 vs. WKU

I’ll play the kool-ade drinker: IF the Herd can run the ball & control the clock, Frank Zappa will have a tough time getting enough possessions. + the weather is going to be raw. Of course, turnovers (really any) and we will not get the opportunity to get our asses kicked in San AnTon!!

Very rarely does a game come down to defensive line play, but that may very well be the case this week.

If we can get pressure with our front four it will allow for 7 in coverage and maybe at least slow them down. If Zappe has time to throw, or if we have to blitz all the time, we will get lit up. The d-line has to be good enough to cover for the DBs in order for us to have a chance.

I don't have confidence in our secondary covering my grandmother one on one, much less trying to stop WKU.

We may set a college record for most PI's in a game this week.

WKU has a vastly better record. Losing close to Army, which looks to be the best of the three service academies; 2 Big 10 teams; and nationally ranked UTSA; while taking care of the rest of the conference, including an easy 48-21 win over MTSU, who blew us out; and an easy dispatch of ODU 43-20 on the road; which we were lucky to get into overtime with at home.

It would be a major upset for MU to win.

Betting lines differ and show an even matchup!

Yep. And the purpose of all betting lines, is to get an even amount of $$ bet on each side, not to in any way predict a winner.

Marshall: More fans than all other CUSA schools, combined. Located in a state with legal sports betting available on your cellphone.

WKU: Several dozen fans. Located in a state without legal sports betting.

So you have to lay 1 1/2 to get the Herd, when, all signs say we should be getting at least 7.

I do a fair amount of sports betting at our local casino's sports book... This line immediately looked off to me, which usually means one of two things.

1. Vegas is trying to get people to sucker bet on WKU by giving them a favorable line.
2. Vegas knows something we don't know (maybe someone for WKU got hurt this week and it hasn't been disclosed, maybe the coach is leaving, etc)

Same thing happened a couple weeks ago when UNC was a 2-point favorite over then-undefeated Wake Forest... UNC covered 58-55.

MTSU did not 'blow us out,' we had 6 turnovers and still only lost by 6.

Moral victory? Not a “real loss”? Learning opportunity?

They blew us out. They have also beaten three of the Bottom 10, 1-10 UConn, 2-9 Southern Mississippi, and 1-10 FIU. And a I-AA.

And us.

Embarrassing.

I do not believe anyone is saying the things you are suggesting. This was a game Marshall should have won but turnovers were too much to overcome. I watched the game and the team never gave up and kept fighting until the end. We have played smarter football since then. Most fans have moved on from that loss and so has the team. The only team to truly beat us was UAB. Not sure why you are embarrassed. We are 7-4 with a chance to win the East and, if we do, a chance for the conference championship. Everyone knows our record should be better. However, it would not have changed the scenario for the upcoming game.

Remember 2014 66-67 game where WKU went for 2 in the second overtime. Could end up being like that.
Doughty still holds almost every away team single game passing record in The Joan. The difference in that game was that we had Cato and Butler to pull us out of a 21 point hole.

Remember last time at the Joan? Our FG kicker nailed that 57(?) yarder 3 times in a row with 0:00 left on the clock. !! Helton was so pissed!

We have plenty of threads about “moral victories” and how we only have “two real losses”. The last press conference, CH went on and on about how we were “learning” from all the losing.

Ya think? A I-AA, three of the Bottom 10, and us.

We have?
Or were we taken to overtime by ODU; beat UNT (neither of which will have winning records), then played what is probably the third worst team in America, FIU; and then FAU, which also will not have a winning reocord.
The only team to truly beat us was UAB.
Yes. The best way to look at that is we are 1-1 vs teams with a pulse since losing to hapless MTSU. Beating the very faint heartbeat at FAU, and being manhandled by UAB.
Not sure why you are embarrassed.
7-4.
MTSU. Blown out.
ECU. A clown show.

You have seen UTSA play, right?

This team and new coaching staff deserve support from fans. Respectfully disagree with calling The MTSU game a blow out. No game was a blowout this year. I'll remain optimistic and support the program. Players and coaches have worked hard and deserve our support! Sorry you do not see it that way.

Embarrassing? You predicting we had no chance against NT, FAU, or Charlotte. You're a loser Sammy. You're embarrassing.
Actually not. I correctly said the team would have a month long break from reality, playing joke teams, and that reality would return in November. It did. We beat a fellow mediocre in FAU, and then were easily manhandled by by UAB. I also correctly predicted that during the month long break a lot of people who don’t know much about football would talk about “improvement” and “gelling” and “coming together” and other such nonsense. Then UAB grabbed this team by the throat and said “nope”.

We now play another fellow mediocre. WKU has taken care of its business, not being grossly unprepared and therefore losing to a terrible MTSU, and playing to a similar record against a MUCH better schedule.

Do we have a shot? Sure. A puncher’s chance. But the line is totally off.

Which ever team wins, will be +14 or more @ UTSA. And should be.

I’d wager the line will be less than 14.

Do you ever stop lying? This team isn’t for you. Go celebrate NM St.

FAU put up over 50 against an FCS team and against a dejected FAU bunch, no way they hang that many on us at home. Their QB throws for a ton of yards, but it doesn’t equal the points you would think. Imagine how many Marshall would have put up if Pennington or Leftwich repeatedly threw for 500. Their numbers look good on paper. We can, and I believe should, beat them. I don’t think we can routinely let our front 4 rush their QB. I think we need to blitz and be in his face on every single snap. Offensively, we are more balanced. Defensively, we start slow, but actually seem to finally make adjustments on that side of the ball.

Do you ever stop lying?
So we really beat UAB?

So we have a win over a team with a winning record?

So FAU isn’t in the Bottom 10 and MTSU isn’t in the Bottom 20?

Who knew?

Truth hurts, but its still the truth. Calling things you wish were not true, but which are, is childlike/

You just keep changing what you actually claimed. Not a surprise. You’re usually wrong. Proceed. We like laughing at you.
