Horrible trip, really nice store

I needed some cedar shakes for my project and couldn’t find them anywhere at a reasonable price. Finally found some at Menard’s in Barboursville and decided to make the three hour drive to pick them up. It was too wet to do much else.

What a horrible trip. Not bad until I got on the section of Interstate that was once the WV Turnpike. The road was in poor condition and they still charge you $4.50 per toll plaza ( there were two). I needed some fuel and a restroom break and thought I would stop at the middle Turnpike rest stop. Noooo, they tore it down. No warnings, just a sign that said “Exit Closed.”

Charleston was as crowded and filthy as I remembered it and the Interstate between there and Huntington was still under its 100 year construction plan. What a mess.

I love Menard’s! It is what Lowe’s could be if they cleaned it up, added lighting, and hired clerks with an IQ above 80. I could have spent all day in there. Even so, it would have probably been cheaper to have ordered the shakes and have them shipped. Spent $100 on fuel, tolls, and food to pick up a $20 bundle of shakes.

That sucks. I had better success on my drive yesterday. Put a cooler of beer in the back of the small pull cart, and drove the lawn mower from the shed to the backyard. Only cost about $0.30 in gasoline and maybe $26.00 in beers. I have the old lady thawing out some chicken quarters, and then I'll watch her grill them SOBs from my perch under the shade tree this afternoon. Need a haircut, but I'll probably just continue the Willie Nelson look for another day or so. You never know what you'll get at the Great Clips until you get home and look in the mirror. Might as well cut my own wig.

Laughing at this. Went into one of their shops the first of last week. Told the girl I wanted it short. She said for it to look right, she would only take off about 1/4 of an inch. Charged me $27 and less than a week later, I need a haircut. I don’t trust those girls.

Then, they ask me squared or rounded on the back. I just say, you pick. Sometimes I get one sideburn and the other side has no sideburn. I kind of like that.

I also get my hair washed and my eyebrows waxed every time. The hair wash is more like a scalp massage. Just a fantastic experience. When she retires, I will find another salon to go to. I wouldn’t go to a barber if I had to. The fact that it’s appointment based is enough for me.

I let them know I forgot my wallet out in the truck and left. Only had a young fat white girl with pink hair and some old hag working. I wasn't going to take my chances spending $25 today. That colored girl is pretty good though. She talks in some accent I'm not familiar with, so thinking she might be from overseas. She's the best they got though. If I don't get her, I leave. If she's working, I let others cut the line so I get her. We talk about good stuff too while she's forming my trim. I always wonder what she thinks about my back hair when she does my neck.

got buzzed last evening, both in the head and on the outside. the "great clips" i go to is about 1/2 to 3/4 a mile back a dirt road that was recently flooded, last house on the road. stylist has great tig bitties and a little on the chunky side, but it's a sexy chunky. was about half shot in the ass when i got there and after telling me about her dog jumping off the back of her boyfriends truck, rolling several times, thinking it was gonna have to be put down, but now thinks it's going to live, the conversation went to who "finishes" first and whether they give a damn whether the other does.

i think it excited her a bit as she took more off the top than usual. on the flip side, she said the hair growth pills the wife has me on appear to be working. i'm calling bullshit, no way they're working, but started a new package of them this morning. i told the wife a few months ago that i'd take a razor to my head if/when i go bald on top, no way in hell i was going to be bald on top with hair growing on the sides. she said hell no to the shave and started buying the pills. i take them to appease her but see a bald head coming by the time i turn 60 in several years.

oh, and the stylist "ain't wasting money on a vet", and all she cares about is getting hers.

Just returned from Great Clips. I got the colored girl that is friendly. Today, her nipples were showing through her shirt. It may have been cold or it may have been me walking in. Either way, the high beams were on. Those are some big ebony jugs and it helps the time go by. Plus, we spoke about going to church and Memorial Day.

She knows my blade sizes and is real friendly.

For $25, I feel happy and satisfied.

Always does a great job, straight razor’s the neck and ears, and has something new and entertaining to bitch about every visit. You should have heard him when he thought a tattoo shop was going in a few doors down from him. You’d think the entire neighborhood had gone to shit.
