Huntington area is becoming a third world country

If you want something bigger, there isn't a city in WV that could come witHin smelling distance of Louisville or Lexington in tErms of . . . well, anything.

Never spent time in Bardstown but the others you mentioned would be lower on my list than Somerset or Murray. Nicholasville isnt bad though. I liked Louisville much better than Lexington.

The only way I'd leave what I have is either be forced out or if I found something that said you get to work math problems all day. That's still my biggest regret about this field. Doesn't use any of the higher math we learned. Big waste. Learned all that calculus and differential equations to be judged on speaking skills and flowery e-mails.

First, I'm not going to pretend like Huntington is a great city. BUT here are some things I know for sure.

1. Huntington is the best city in West Virginia. I've spent plenty of time in Morgantown and plenty of time in Charleston. It's not a lot better...but I would rather live in Huntington any day.

2. Huntington is the best that it's been in my lifetime. The current administration is changing things rapidly. With the development around Marshall, the River to Rail project on the West end and the upcoming work on the Riverfront, Huntington is seeing tons of improvements. Anybody that says Huntington is getting worse has no idea what they are talking about.

That said, Huntington needs a lot of work but for the first time that I can remember, I'm pretty optimistic that Huntington is on the upswing.
2. You must not be very old.

I'm not. My memory of Huntington is the Super Block and Cruise Avenue.

That said...I have still spent plenty of time in Morgantown and Charleston. If I had to pick one of the three in which to live...it's an easy choice. I'm moving to Huntington. It's the nicest right now and is getting better.

I prefer Huntington to the other two, but just know that Htgn is a mere shell of what the city was 50-60 years ago and that's no different from most towns of similar size. The irony for me is that when downtown Htgn was first hitting the skids the residential neighborhoods were still very vital, but as downtown has experienced somewhat of a re-birth the housing stock has not aged gracefully and most(not all) neighborhoods are sliding quickly. Lack of new, medium priced housing and slum lords galore have made most streets not very appealing. Huntington's core problems are deep and costly,( if not impossible) to fix, creating a bunch of commissions to plant flowers, sell vegtables, etc. is only putting lipstick on the pig.

Guys, the growth happening in Morgantown dwarfs anything the rest of the state can even imagine. Unemployment is something like 2%, and new construction is going on everywhere in the city. Let's put it this way, if Morgantown was a stock would you buy it? What about any other city in this state, minus the eastern panhandle or Putnam County. I think we all know the answer.
You're way off on the unemployment rate. Feb rate in Morgantown metro area is 5.5%. Huntington metro is 6.9% and Charleston metro is 7.3%.

Also do they still allow trailers and trailer parks within the Morgantown city limits?

Huntington isn't much, but it's the best WV has to offer by a large margin. Morganhole is a dump. Sure, it's finally experiencing some growth of shitty chain restaurants and big box stores that every other city has had for decades, but that doesn't make it a nice place to live. Infrastructure is some of the worst in the country. All growth is tied to government spending (wvu). It's truly a shithole.

Huntington has much better restaurants, parks, infrastructure, culture, shopping, and is designed a thousand times better than some shithole littered with trailer parks on the side of a mountain.

I could live in Charleston if I had to, but I like Huntington better.

It's probably good to be fat. They say it's unhealthy, but when you read the obituaries daily, folks are getting planted six feet under from all walks of life - skinny people, fat fvcks, blacks, whites.

What good is it to live until 96? I say go ahead and enjoy life while you can. Eat, drink, and be merry.

I don't weigh nearly enough, so I got a lot of work to do. Right now, I'm supposedly at the ideal weight for my height, but it does me no good. It's 73 degrees here today, so the air conditioning is running here at the grind, and I'm freezing to death like a frail old man. A couple of the fat fvcks out in the cubicles are sweating profusely, but they're happier than I am right now. They don't even care if they stink real bad. They know they're fat and supposed to smell like a freshly fried egg drooped over a pile of puke. It also provides them with nobody wanting to get close to them. Fat, stinky, and left alone.

I don't see anything wrong about that. They need to sell less dietary pills, and start selling better things to make you fat. That's what I would buy. Go to Sam's Club and buy a couple 500 count bottles of fat pills.
