….if we (U.S.) are proposing terms that Russia wants (set border at current front lines & no NATO, ever for the invaded country), where exactly is the give on Putins part?
Exactly.….if we (U.S.) are proposing terms that Russia wants (set border at current front lines & no NATO, ever for the invaded country), where exactly is the give on Putins part?
So, putin gets rewarded for starting a war against a democratic nation. The give by Putin is that he stops the invasion and people stop dying.
Who on here wants to bomb Iran? Who??Funny part is how many on here want to bomb Iran. Talk about a no fly zone over Ukrane and they are scared shitless.
If you want the war to stop, invoke a new fly zone.
You going over to fight?….if we (U.S.) are proposing terms that Russia wants (set border at current front lines & no NATO, ever for the invaded country), where exactly is the give on Putins part?
Yeah…Putin invades, pummels the lands & ppl of a democratic nation. + goes through ginormous stock of weapons & soldiers. Now Trump, who I totally support, is supposed to have the art of the deal, where neither side gets everything they want…so what is Vlad not getting? It’s bafflingExactly.
The obvious answer is this: sometimes you just have to accept an ass kicking and move on.
Would you prefer they kill a few hundred thousand more, at the expense of the American taxpayers?
He then doesn't continue the war and Ukraine is left with a country outside of the ethnic Russian areas. Ukraine is left with some of their population still in place.….if we (U.S.) are proposing terms that Russia wants (set border at current front lines & no NATO, ever for the invaded country), where exactly is the give on Putins part?
Crimea was always Russian. If waa given to Ukraine by Russia after the split up of the Soviet Union as a reward.Russia has had Crimea since the 2014 invasion. It's allowing Russia to keep Crimea while Russia has to cede areas they have claims on. Plus Ukraine will be allowed to join the EU. Biased media reporting aside, I think it seems to be a reasonable and workable solution. Plus it stops the killing.
We could just leave and watch Ukraine be left withe a few old men and women while Russia just grinds them up in a meat grinder.Exactly.
The second thing happens anyway if Ukraine doesn’t get NATO membership, which they aren’t, so eventually Ukraine will be taken over (officially or via puppet government) by Russia. The play is to make Russia bleed as much as possible to do it, which has been going great. This is very simple proxy war politics and I have a hard time believing you all don’t get it.Given that, you really have two choices, stop it where it is, or keep going and eventually all of Ukraine will fall and be completely annexed into Russia.
“Going great”? Hordes & hordes of Ukrainians are dead & it could have been avoided. I guess if you don’t give a shit about mass death or global conflict, this war is right up your alley. The second thing happens anyway if Ukraine doesn’t get NATO membership, which they aren’t, so eventually Ukraine will be taken over (officially or via puppet government) by Russia. He's not getting all of Ukraine and there will be a US presence there if Zelenskyy would get off his ass and agree to the mineral rights deal.Yeah…Putin invades, pummels the lands & ppl of a democratic nation. + goes through ginormous stock of weapons & soldiers. ^^^happy to deplete Russian resources if all it costs are the lives of tens of thousands of Ukranian men.which has been going great
By all accounts over 1million people have been killed. The Biden administration should be proud. Their instigating this mess resulted in millions dead and 100s of $billions wasted on a politically corrupt country.^^^happy to deplete Russian resources if all it costs are the lives of tens of thousands of Ukranian men.
Going great? That's insane. The second thing happens anyway if Ukraine doesn’t get NATO membership, which they aren’t, so eventually Ukraine will be taken over (officially or via puppet government) by Russia. Military industrial complex people like ignored member.Who on here wants to bomb Iran? Who??
And I have a hard time believing a compassionate liberal looks past the fact that Ukraine has lost two generations of men and will soon look like the Germans, or the southerners, at the end of their losses with a bunch of 60 and 14 year olds fighting in the trenches. The second thing happens anyway if Ukraine doesn’t get NATO membership, which they aren’t, so eventually Ukraine will be taken over (officially or via puppet government) by Russia. What kind of person is cool with millions of deaths just so Russia suffers a temporary depletion of weapons stockpiles? Who’s okay with the leveling of entire cities as long as it’s somebody else’s country they don’t have to look at?
How can you get a peace deal when Zelensky won't even give up Crimea? They lost that in 2014! Western polling back then and at present shows a majority of Crimea is ethnically/linguistically Russian.
If he won't even give up Crimea then that's a litmus test for his reasoning on this whole thing...and it's not good.
I think that has been Trump's issue with Zelensky from Day 1. Trump didn't fold to media pressure and now we are seeing the problem for what it is. And who was POTUS and VPOTUS in 2014 when the invasion of Crimea occurred???
Zelenskyy canceled elections in 2024 and remained in Power under Marshal law.As I've said time and time again, there is no resolution, absent WW3, where this gets resolved without Ukraine ceding territory to Russia. If that's a non-starter for Zelinsky, then maybe it's time Ukraine has a free and open election to see if he should remain in power.
It has but they are primarily using small drones. Fighter just still play a major role. A commercial off the shelf drone is only going to do so much. And on a side note - whatever happened to the F16’s? It’s like they disappeared.
Drone warfare has changed to entire strategy in the air.
He is arrogant son of a bitch. He has little cards to play. If this goes on Russia is going to take more and kill more(their own troops and plenty of Ukrainians). How can you get a peace deal when Zelensky won't even give up Crimea? They lost that in 2014! I'm a bit out of the loop but I think I heard on the news this morning he is still holding on to Crimea as coming back to Ukraine as part of peace deals. If the hold up is Crimea, shame on Zelensky. I can understand not ceding territory taken in the current conflict but Crimea is in the past.
I think we are all out of the loop because we don't know what is truly going on behind the scenes. I put no faith in Trump's tweets. He's proven that lying is second nature to him.I'm a bit out of the loop but I think I heard on the news this morning he is still holding on to Crimea as coming back to Ukraine as part of peace deals.
Can you, though? What other realistic outcome is there for Ukraine, outside of complete Russian control? If they think the other European nations and/or NATO are going to engage in a war with Russia without help the U.S. - and we aren't jumping in - then they are fools. So what's the most favorable outcome? You willing to go die for Ukraine, or better yet, send your kids to die for Ukraine? If the hold up is Crimea, shame on Zelensky.
