When we play WKU next year a two point conversion followed by an onside kick when WKU had the game well in hand. Hope he remembers that whether Brohm is the coach or not. Shades of Miami (OH) in 1971 except we had all Freshmen.

That wasn't an onside kick, it was a squib kick that hit our player. Watch it again, it was kicked Very Hard; way to hard for an onside kick. Those things happen. And the two point conversion was a compliment to us IMHO, making the points to gain even for them should we go on a run.

My bad. However GreenFuke there are no "myths" about the 1971 game in Ocford. I was there. I watched in disbelief that they put a hurting on us the way they did. Don't know what "myths" you are talking about.

I agree BB. Don't forget them playing games with us acting like they were going to go for it on 4th down on their own 10 or whatever late in the game. We had to call a timeout. The QB was mocking us, laughing his butt off. It would be great if Brohm was still there but is usually the case jerks like him get hired away every 2-3 years till they crash and burn

To GreenDuke. I stand corrected on the onside when, in fact, it was a squib. I don't see the two point attempt as a "compliment" to us and think Doc would disagree as well. However, I am bothered about your "myth" comment. I do not know who you are but indulge me. I just returned to Marshall after serving three years in the army and returned from overseas during the Vietnam War. In 1970 I was one of the student athletic trainers with the football team and obviously one of three of us who were exempted from the flight. In the 1971 season - when Vic Winburn was named our head trainer, my heart was simply not in it anymore and I focused on completing my degree and finding a job. That said I still attended the games and as I previously said was in Oxford, Ohio when Miami gave us an unbelievable beat down that was unnecessary. Again, what "myth" are you referring to? If you are a local tell me how to contact you and I will arrange a meeting and include David Walsh (local) who was the other quarterback with Reggie on the "Young Thundering Herd" and also in Oxford that day and we can discuss the "myth" you are alluding to. I'm very interested in learning what I missed that day. Let me know where to contact you and I will provide contact info.

Whatever. Doc is 1-4 in the last five games against Midd Tenn and WKU. There is a pattern there. Those teams get in our head and smash us in the mouth and same with Ohio.

Marshall doesn't like to be talked to or punched in the head. Frankly, I am wondering if we are at times a soft football program. Doc seems to be a hard ass but his teams don't play like it.

Ugh...suddenly this thread went sour.

Its not like Doc can't beat MTSU or anything, he smashed them last season...so you can shut up and quit trying to assert your negative idiocy once more.

Correct, you know nothing about me or my connection with MU and/or the game in question. I know exactly what happened that day and stand by my opinion of how the game is now remembered.

Cato was the prime factor in last year's offense with his ability to keep plays alive and check down through his progressions. You are entitled to you opinion of Legg being the brains behind our offensive diversity...count me in the came opposed to that opinion

some of our fans are such whiny babies...

as i posted in the other crybaby thread.... every team/coach that beats us turns out to be Nazi-AlQaeda-BinLaden-ChildMurders after the game...

yet when we win our guys have a notorious reputation (just like when we were in the MAC) about running their chops to the opposing team and their fans but that is perfectly OK......

WKU and MTSU are the only teams with a remote pulse we've played in the last three years. We wonder why Doc has trouble with them, what with all the impressive performances over Old Dominion and Charlotte and North Texas and FIU and...

Very true. This is why Doc isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We get a lot of negative comments by the media regarding our SOS. If Doc can win 99.9% of those games then he would be a hot commodity; however, this is not the case.

When our guys do it it's "swagger."

There was absolutely nothing wrong with going for two in that situation. If we would have done that you guys would be applauding and pounding your chests about "killer instinct" and other worthless fan buzzword nonsense... as mentioned above it was a squib kick that hit our guy in the back... and the fake going for it was no big deal because the game was over at that point and we spent a timeout.
