My California neighbor and some of the lefties in the neighborhood are on this kick about Leave your leaves on your yard. Well, no way I could do that or they would be piled up 6 ft high. As I was out earlier blowing my leaves off the yard with my Stihl 800x Magnum blower, I noticed she even has a sign about Leave your Leaves. She also made a post about how it helps the butterflies and some kind of moth to leave the leaves because they lay their eggs in the leaves.
I've tried everything. Raked them. Mowed them. Got the blower. I don't think it has hurt any butterflies or moths. I see them all the time. Leaves are pain in the ass. In the long run, I would just as soon cut the trees down. But, she really hates that. She protested a construction site one time because they cut a big oak tree down. All these damn leaves and most of them aren't even mine. They fall from the neighbors trees for the most part. I can pike them up feet deep with that blower.
There are thousands trees all around us. I guess there are people really worried about those moths and butterflies. It is not like we are clearing and burning the forest. If I blow the leaves back into the woods 100 feet away won't the damn moths and butterflies' find the leaves? You would think someone with 14 college degrees in science would know that.
