Locked Threads

I despise locked threads. It’s embarrassing that the mods have to lock threads instead of allowing things to work themselves out like had been the case for the first 15+ of this site.

Ever since Benedict Arnold bowed down to 30kitty, locker threads are the norm instead of the exception.

Worst of all, those types of threads usually bring the best entertainment value. The looney-bin posters are exposed after they lose their shit in these threads.

Just look at the last post in this recently locked thread. Gary’S weeney had another meltdown throughout the thread. Then, he claims that a company wasn’t a scam but was simply shut down by the government for being a pyramid scheme. He speaks “fluid” English but doesn’t understand why those schemes are illegal.

We need to allow the looney-bin threads to continue.

For the last two years, when he claimed he was a coach, I’ve been telling him that he simply is a scorekeeper for the JV team who isn’t even allowed to sit in the dugout.

Now, he claims to have an official title with an official duty . . . keeping score.

Commenting about the anger and personal nature of some of this stuff isn't saying we should all get along. There's absolutely nothing about my board persona that suggests I believe we should all get along. The disagreement and heated arguments are half the fun. There's a difference between that and how personal it gets though. I've probably been disagreed with by almost everyone on this board. I've never taken it seriously and have enjoyed the banter.

We had a kid who's little brother had a club foot. We let him keep score and gave him a title of stats coach. We let him in the dugout until he called the ump a blind idiot and about got me tossed because i laughed at the ump when he came over to ask who said it.

This is off topic but as far as the keeping stats thing, the last several years I coached softball we used one of the online stat programs. Those things are pretty cool. Parents and relatives who couldn't travel out of town with the team were able to follow live simulcast of the game. The stat charts and info it provided over a season was pretty useful making lineup decisions as a coach. It tracked trends and averages. We used to use it to track our opponents games during tourneys too. The spray chart for opponent hitting was very valuable over the course of a season to help me move the defense based on tendencies of the batter. Really cool. The only real flaw was the dad who kept the stats "judgement" of his daughters numbers. Lol.

Anyway...you guys can get back to trashing Sweeney.
