This is a cut and paste from another MU board I read this morning.

This is not sports related, so scroll to another topic if you not interested in Marshall U news. Brad does have wealthy friends and he can get contributions.

Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Charitable Foundation gifts $5 million toward Marshall For All program.
"Marshall University has announced a gift of $5 million from the Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Charitable Foundation to support the Marshall For All program. The foundation was founded by Sheryl Sandberg, former chief operating officer of Meta and founder of Lean In.

?I am profoundly grateful to my friends Sheryl Sandberg and Tom Bernthal for their extraordinary generosity towards the Marshall For All program,? said Brad D. Smith, Marshall?s president. ?This remarkable gift not only underscores their commitment to fostering opportunity and inclusion but also propels our mission forward with renewed vigor. It is with immense appreciation that we embrace this support, which will undoubtedly make a lasting impact on countless lives and advance our shared vision of a more equitable future.?

The linked article mentions that an end goal of the program - possibly the end goal - is completely student debt-free for all students by 2037.

Does anybody know what the plan consists of to get to that point? Currently, they are pushing scholarships, grants, work programs, and family contributions (mommy and daddy) to cover college costs without needing to take loans. Umm, isn’t that what people have been doing for 50 years? Getting scholarships, grants, family to help, and working options during schooling to pay for college has been commonplace.

They made an entire program based on the strategy? What else is the strategy? Is it relying on large donations like this one, hoping to increase the endowment, and use the yield from that to help fund scholarships for students? Is it relying on an increase in government grants? The anti-socialist crowd should love that.

This whole “Marshall for all” and giving everybody access by dumbing down the standards and/or cost isn’t good long term for the university nor its future alums who can do it on their own merit.

Don't fret over it rifle. It does not affect you. College students have been taking out loans for decades and now can't pay them off. Do you not understand what the program is all about? No college loans to pay back upon graduation. Since you apparently got a full ride scholly to play baseball at an off-campus facility, and since you are, well, rich/wealthy, why don't you pony up and pay it forward and make a donation to the program.

That isn't my concern. I am concerned about how it could affect morons like you. Just because something doesn't impact me negatively doesn't mean I am not concerned about it.

Did you not read my post? I clearly said what the end goal of the program was. My questions were:

1) How is the plan any different than how people have been paying for college for 50+ years (scholarships, grants, working during college, family contributions)? The only change this program has compared with what people have been doing for 50+ years is getting rid of student loans, so they don't have to pay them back after graduation.
2) How does the program plan to reach the goal of having no student debt in 2037?

Since you apparently got a full ride scholly to play baseball at an off-campus facility, and since you are, well, rich/wealthy, why don't you pony up and pay it forward and make a donation to the program.
11 of your last 13 posts have been about me. That's the norm for you. Try calming your obsession with me and stop trying to make this thread be about me, moron.

You're a real numbers guy, rifle. 11 for 13. That's like batting over .800. Of course, you wouldn't know about a batting average that high. The point of the program is to graduate students without debt. You want me to hook you up with somebody from the Marshall Foundation so you can make that donation. I know some folks there.

So you don't know the answers to the questions I asked. You could have just said that. 12 out of your last 14, shadow.
