I have been following the box scores and have not seen Morgan Zerkle listed in the line up for several weeks. I have not seen one word about her status in any game report and wonder if she is injured. Meister, GK, anyone have an answer why she is not playing.

Terrible for her, hope for a 100% recovery. Her style of play and ability to steal bases makes that type of injury more of a possibility. Thanks 93.
They miss her dearly in the lineup. They're in a bit of a slump currently. Marshall only stole 1 base in the weekend series against Charlotte. That's staggering since MU has stolen 113 for the season. The entire lineup is out of whack.
Zerkle has been through the injury thing before. She had a knee injury in high school that took her out of season. She was being recruited by UK at that point. I really don't know the particulars, but I always wondered if that injury was why she ended up here instead of Kentucky. Here's my question...can she utilize a red shirt year this year?
And as far as the lineup being out of sorts...one player can certainly do that both in the batting rotation and in the field. Let's face it...it's hard to replace a player of her caliber. She had one of the top on base percentages in the country and was at or near the top in steals. That's like starting two or three innings every game with a runner on second base. You just can't replace that.

Also they need to develop a second pitcher for when Dixon is off her game. It appears as though they are bringing the Burdette girl around but she's a true freshman so she's still gaining experience. She pitched for my travel team one year and I can tell you she's a player. She just needs to continue to get stronger and gain experience.
