Why did we quit what was working? Alley oop attempts, lobs of 3's, hope our guys pull it back together, 16 point lead and now down by 9? Hell of a swing.
They got some questionable calls when they were down 11 to get them going but since then we have just fell apart and started gettin a foul called on us every trip down the floor
I agree 100%. Tenn got about 10-12 more foul shots and that seemed to be the difference in the game. About even in every other category
Yeah, but the other problem is we shot 37% from the field and ONLY 25% from 3, per Steve Cotton. When you can't hit from the field and other team is hot from line, and gets there a lot, you are in trouble. Danny has recruited a lot of 6'8"/6'9" guys but not sure they can run the floor consistently and play the up tempo running game he wants. Kelly certainly can, but when he goes out who do you play? The European guys don't have the quickness suited for such play. Some of them may develop into role players who can give us some inside scoring, defense and rebounds, some probably won't. This game requires some consistent 3 point shooters, and only Loop was consistent overall from 3 last year.
Marshall is 11-28 all time vs the SEC. While it's true than Kentucky dominates the league in basketball, you are way off base labeling the rest of the league as garbage. LSU, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M will be nationally relevant this year.
If Marshall can shoot 35-40% from 3-point range in games this year, they will have a chance to win. They shot 25% tonight. Poor 3-point shooting exposes and magnifies their weaknesses in other ares
MU 27-74 overall 9-35 from 3. TN 26-65 overall and 7-23 3pt..... we had a lower avg but made more the only real advantage to them is foul shots. Hard to get to the line though when we shoot so much outside instead of driving. We need to do what they did and drive the ball some and it will also help get our guys outside open. It worked early on when we had cutters for the easy dunks then we would drive and dish to the outside but we stopped doing it in the 2nd half

OK, I'll try it in a more "PC" way: The SEC is traditionally a top-heavy league consisting of UK, one or two other decent teams, and the rest playing catch-up and living off their football reps. It's never been a balanced league and it rarely has any strong teams after the top 2-3.

Good thing Duke had the no.1 incoming class according to ESPN. If it had been lower, they would have seriously got spanked.
Thundercat greenduke did pick Uk to beat Duke and it was no sour grapes. He has blasted the sec long before the duke ky game. I totally disagree with him but he will say that if they get 8 teams in the ncaa tourney. He hates Ky like some ky fans hate duke. I am not a hater. It makes you say stupid things and I dont have to be mad to do that. Last night at the Ky game I kept thinking of how much money fans spend. Lexington has alot of people who have plenty of money and they spend it on Kentucky. Things are so good there only an idiot would think Ky would have to pay a player. Other way around maybe. Those boys are rock stars.
