Missouri Athlete Boycott Bill

More Backwards WVian thinking. Where in their scholarship does it say your not allowed to stand up for what you believe in?

Either why I hope if this becomes law, I hope all Student-Athletes in the state of Missouri Protest

You are special. If an individual is given a scholarship for a free education in exchange for playing football, and proceeds to "go on strike" and not play football, he is not holding up his end of the agreement.

75 percent of those guys wouldn't be near a college campus if it were not for football.

Idiots. Tit sucking idiots

And what the hell is "backwards WV thinking" supposed to mean? How am I "backwards" because I'm from WV? I'm more educated than you. I'm much better travelled than you. I use better grammar than you. Of all the people to stereotype on the board . . .

More travelled lol?? I highly doubt that

One thing I'd like people to realize is that nobody gives a shit about the player. People are fans of the school. If Rakeem Cato protested & Blake Frohnapfel stepped in, would Marshall make any less money? We had a lot of players who were injured this year and a lot of other guys got kicked off the team. If it had been different those guys (AJL, Stew Butler, AJ Leggett, Devon Johnson, Clint Van Horn, & Michael Birdsong) not had played because they wanted to protest, would Marshall lose any money? I seriously doubt it. Go ahead and protest. People don't come to see you, they come to see the program. The program they watched 20+ years before you and the program they'll watch 20+ years after you. Players usually only make a meaningful impact at a school for 2-3 years, yet the schools have been making millions for many, many years.

You have an athletic scholarship. If you think that scholarship is a burden & you think you're getting a raw deal, leave the team and take out student loans for your education.

just fyi, the bill has been pulled by the co-sponsors of the bill because the co-sponsors were dumb (or lazy) and didn't really research things. it was pointed out the state has no say so over funds used to pay scholarships.

I take at least 2 international vacations per year.

Where've you been? Albany?

Fever still doesn't understand the difference between the ability to speak out on an issue and a "strike." Nor does he understand that student athletes - amateur athletes by every definition of the term - aren't "employees" under the NLRA. Therefore, any attempt to explain or further argue with him is futile.

Or maybe Im moving to San Diego here in a few weeks with Money that ive saved. When you don't have kids, its easy to travel when you want like how 2 weekends ago me and the misses took a tour of New England because I never been to Boston, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.

Or maybe I was smart and paid off a Universal whole life policy with my student loan refund when I was 18 and 19 and now I can take loans out and collect the dividends.

Whole life insurance for an unmarried, single, young male with no dependents. Sounds like a great investment choice. I'm sure someone from Northwest Mutual or Edward Jones was quick to sell you that plan.

You paid off a bad investment with student loan funds so that you can now take out loans to travel and do stuff????? No wonder you've lived with mom until your almost 30

You've traveled the world but had never been to Boston, New Hampshire, Vermont, or Maine??? Yep...smell of shit has worsened.

He also went to school with a guy that had a kid killed at Sandy Hook and a professor who was shot at Kent State.

Never had an interest to visit the region, and since I am moving across the country, I figured why not. Its only 4 hours away

Or maybe its a great investment for the long term for someone of my demographic. Insure my life while save money for my future to where I can travel like go to Brazil and South Africa.

You saw the "refund" and got excited but a term policy for your age demographic would be much cheaper

A term policy is much cheaper but there is no dividend options or Loan Money that I don't have to return to the policy as it would just be deducted from the Principle

Yeah I know how they work. Just save the money from a universal policy and use that as a loan to yourself you dumb ass. It's simple math

Considering a whole life policy an "investment" is economic illiteracy at its highest level. State Farm saw a sucker a mile away.

Get this straight, there are no athletic "scholarships". They are grants-in-aid that are renewed annually though some schools are now guaranteeing all four years as a recruiting ploy. There is no scholastic litmus test for these awards only the minimum eligibility set by the NCAA or the individual institution.

those would be a scholastic litmus by definition would it not?

"Yea sure Protest but don't miss any games boy. We need the millions we make off of you Boy."
First off, the white people I know in power would use better grammar than that. And second, college football games are huge investments by cities, counties & the state. If players are refusing to play, regardless of race, damn right they should face stiff consequences.

I listed the places I've been in the last 12 months. You listed every place you've ever been, and 15 places you're supposedly going to travel to. And the best part is your European trip (singular) [I go to Europe at least once per year] was a school trip.

Or maybe I was smart and paid off a Universal whole life policy with my student loan refund when I was 18 and 19 and now I can take loans out and collect the dividends.

Can you expand on "paying off" your whole life policy? You paid the entire policy in whole, for the rest of your life? And then can you explain how the dividends are substantial enough to travel the world?

This should be great . . .

Btw, I'm an insurance broker. You're an idiot for buying whole life insurance.

Surely reading comprehension is not your thing.
My tour of Europe was in HS trip was dually paid for by my family and my HS. Great Experience in my opinion
Aruba was a family vacation when I was 13
I got to Jamaica maybe every 3 years to visit family
Mexico I found a steal of a deal and took it. Went for my 27th Birthday
Japan and Korea was a Spring Break trip paid with money I saved from working.
Brazil is a trip me and the miss are saving towards.
I have an Uncle that lives in Canada
South Africa is a trip for my moms 55th Birthday and is Family Trip
Bahamas was a Family Vacation when I was 18

And all the states is because of Road Trips or where I lived in my life. Don't be mad at me because I like to travel
