I guess the Winston-Salem Journal is fake news.

And using 2 cities to plead your case is like you saying there was no recession in 2008 because a house sold on your block.

Since 1970 nc population.has doubled.

We're not talking ancient history. We talking recently.
NC population 2016 10,146,788
NC population 2015 10, 040,000
population increase from 2015 to 2016 = 106,788
# of births in 2016 = 120,765

So,if you add the # of births in 2016 (120,765) to the population in 2015 of 10,040,000, what do you get? 10,160,765. But wait, the population is only 10,146,788. It looks to me like 13,977 people had to move out of state. Am I missing something?

Based on your math, I'm assuming North Carolina didn't lose anybody due to death.

North Carolina 9,535,483 10,273,419 +7.74%

Growth from April 2010 to July 2017

My local school system has more kids in it now than the population of Huntington

Yes you are missing something. Read here. You took a small sample of time. NC is growing again and is now the 9th most populated state.

Dude, we are booming.

Me too. The growth is insane. this last quarter we absolutely crushed it.

Not just growth in population, but growth in capital investment too. Private Equity is coming here throwing around hundreds of millions trying to buy pieces or full ownership of privately held companies. They know this is where the growth is going to be for years to come. (Southeast).

Even some older industry (CSX) are building new major infrastructure/operations in the state. It’s an attractive place to do business.

I'm not joking. We have a ton of Amish and Mennonites here.
Those people have always creeped me out. But still, we go down to Indiana and give them a bunch of our money every now and then. I always figured after they close up the shops before sunset on Saturdays, they take all that money and have a kick ass party.

The difference in population in the years you mentioned (2010-2017) is 737,936.
The number of births in North Carolina in those same years is about 820,000.
Deaths are appx. 553,000
That leaves appx 267,000 divided by 7 years means the total immigration into NC at 38,000 per year for the years YOU selected. That's a big difference between the 100,000+ per year you're indicating and the actual immigration into North Carolina.

You certainly aren't good with numbers.

Let's review your math:
737,936 population gain.
Births - Deaths (820,000 - 553,000) = Gain of 267,000.

You then subtract the 267,000 from the total gain of 737,936, which leaves you 470,936. 470,936 divided by 7 = 67,277 per year.
