We can do this! They haven't been setting the world on fire and don't score much. We are a much better "team" now than when we were there in Jan. Need that outside shooting to open up the inside game...
Throw in winning the rebounding match up as well.We can do this! They haven't been setting the world on fire and don't score much. We are a much better "team" now than when we were there in Jan. Need that outside shooting to open up the inside game...
We can do this!
Maybe Danny should get a T shirt with the stay puffed marshmallow man on it. We’re that soft.
I agree . Our defense was awful. Guards did a terrible job stopping penetration and our bigs can't rebound. I love Kinsey but he takes some of the worst shots I have ever seen. It is almost like Dantoni is afraid to say something to him because he is afraid he will transfer. The kid needs discipline!!While this has really not been the case for the duration of the year... this was a step back for a defense that has been pretty darn good. 6 days off to get back up to par.
That was the worst defensive performance of the year. They got in the lane and scored at will. I think they only made a handful of jumpers in the first half.
They had their best point total of the season. Definitely a step back tonite. We need to get those defensive rebounds, & have struggled w/it all season. How did UAB lose 8 conference games?

Hold on guys. We have not heard from the great defenders of the Herd can do no wrong - meister, Stowers, and Perkins.
Never! Go Herd!! Sam - one can be critical w/o abandoning the ship. So, the 1st mate might question the Captain’s inability to execute that turn to port, but when the Cap sinks the enemy ship, it’s 3 hip hip hoorays!! ....for the Captain. All I can say is wow.
And that the five stages of grief are denial (where a lot of you were stuck for most of the year), anger (often misdirected in this case), bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Welcome to stage 5.

So Sam:
At the risk of causing a disturbance in the space-time continuum, let’s flip those 5 stages onto your belief in Doc & the football program: Will you admit to having reached acceptance that there is no hope of redemption, that it (football) is a dumpster fire & that Marshall deserves better than what is happening on the gridiron??? Your answer might help you understand why I will never give up on DD as long as he coaches our Herd....
New NET rankings. 179th. Of 353, meaning almost perfectly mediocre. 7th of the 14 in CUSA, perfectly mediocre. And our league’s leader has a NET higher than 14 other leagues, lower than 17. You could say that is second worst among the mid-majors, or you could say it is almost perfectly mediocre.
A mediocre team in a mediocre conference. And you will “never” give up on that.
In other words, you accept mediocrity.
And somehow you bring our successful football program into this. Far above mediocre. Over-achieving.
….and not surprisingly, you ignored the question. Too painful to discuss?
What question?
You, like all football anhedonians, start with a false premise. In fact, in the real world, MU football is a very successful program and something to be proud of. Since you cannot accept that, you question is silly.

Very successful.
Winning. Going to bowl games. Being among the 130-or so I-A programs despite our size and limitations. Playing schools no one would have dared dream of just a generation ago.
Marshall football. Very successful.
Winning - so has MU basketball 3 years running...maybe 4...
Going to Bowl games - NCAA tourney, a more prestigious achievement (relative to internal Marshall accomplishments) than any of MU's Bowl games have been since Doc took over
Like Akron, Kent & Buffalo? Wake me up when you have something...…..
Playing schools no one would have dreamed of just a generation ago....Wofford played Clemson last year.
That means there are 60 or so very successful programs every year.
Accepting mediocrity. 15-15 or so is OK. You don’t demand better. In a cupcake conference where only 4-6 teams actually even try.
I get that you are a football anhedonian. NOTHING that happens in football will ever suit you, but please, you make yourself look small. MU, ONCE, from fourth place, had a lucky run and went to the tournament, ONCE. No one outside Huntington or Wichita remembers. And so have literally over 100 other programs in the last 4 years. Programs I guarantee that you could not tell me the location, state, colors, control, or mascot of without googling. Going to the NCAAs should be EXPECTED every recruiting generation.
You mean the schools we were dominating when we dominated the lowly MAC? Those schools? From the supposed heyday?
But, yes, for MU, one of the smallest and poorest funded programs in I-A, just being I-A is amazing. No one would have ever dreamed of it just a few years ago. A testimony to our fan base.
Clemson is the Tigers, Alabama is the Tide, but anyway, being the once a year I-AA victim is one thing. MU did that back in the I-AA era.
MU is playing major programs at the HIGHEST LEVEL, straight up. Not for cash. STRAIGHT UP. Over achieving. Awesome.
Now you are starting to understand.
