The F.B.I. on Monday raided the office of President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, seizing records related to several topics including payments to a pornographic-film actress.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan obtained the search warrant after receiving a referral from the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, according to Mr. Cohen’s lawyer, who called the search “completely inappropriate and unnecessary.” The search does not appear to be directly related to Mr. Mueller’s investigation, but likely resulted from information he had uncovered and gave to prosecutors in New York.

I’m sure it’s absolutely nothing. Ya know standard protocol for all sitting presidents to have their personal lawyers offices raided by his own FBI.

im sure there is nothing to it - probably just needed the practice doing a raid.

The F.B.I. also seized emails, tax documents and business records, the person said.
The seized records include communications between Mr. Trump and Mr. Cohen, which would likely require a special team of agents to review because conversations between lawyers and clients are protected from scrutiny in most instances.

Yeah it's perfectly normal for an attorney of a sitting president to have his office home and hotel room raided

Deep State

It's a kunspeerusee

Witch Hunt

"attack on our country"

Mueller found evidence of a crime involving Cohen and essentially recused himself from investigating it because he considered it to be outside his mandate, and turned it over to others to review. That’s normal in the world of prosecutors. The Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York took it over and reviewed the materials. The interim U.S. Attorney for SDNY is Geoffrey Berman. Berman is a Republican who contributed $5,400 to Trump. Trump personally interviewed Berman for the job, which is unusual. Critics cried foul on the fear that Trump was appointing a loyalist in his home district where a federal investigation could be centered, in an effort to insulate himself from prosecution. Trump people said he was a good choice. Berman was formerly a law partner with Rudy Giuliani, a strong Trump surrogate. The warrant was requested by Berman’s office, not Mueller. A federal judge had to review the request for warrant and determine there was probable cause, likely also determining there was a danger of evidence spoliation or destruction by Cohen if the warrant was not executed. The head of the FBI is a Republican, the U.S. Attorney General is a Republican, the Acting U.S. Attorney General is a Republican, the Special Counsel is a Republican, the head of the Office of the U.S. Attorney for SDNY that requested and executed the warrant is a Republican, etc.

You know what’s so fvcking awesome about this is all 5 individuals involved at the judge or attorney general or fbi are all appointed by Trump. Every single fvcking one of them.

Fvck Dershowitz. He knows damn good and well what is going on here: a crooked lawyer is in trouble, which bothers Dershowitz because he is also a crooked lawyer.
Crooked Lawyer? That sure narrows that down, hhahaaaa

Senator Rand Paul is now saying this is an over step.

I think so as well. Even if it were a democrat. Attorney and client privilege should be honored and from all accounts they appeared to be cooperating with an special counsel who is grasping at straws.

Rand Paul is a nut. Which is why I like him. But he's dead wrong here. You know what is an overstep? Federal prosecution of his neighbor for kicking Rand's ass over something that had zero to do with him being a senator.

You do understand this is not Meuller? This is the US Attorney of the Southern District of New York. A position in that office is a launch pad for a big time political career. No one is jeopardizing that future over bullshit. This isn't the Southern District of West Virginia lol, these are players.

Attorney client privilege goes out the window when an attorney conspires to commit a crime. Sorry snowflake.

No these trumptard dont understand or care how this played out. If trump says it is a witch hunt then it’s a witch hunt period. What would be a disservice is if mueller saw a crime committed and didn’t refer it.

So what you guys are saying is that Trump has hired or appointed people that will follow the law. That's a refreshing change from the Obama administration.

Weird. Everyone though Dershowitz was an honorable legal genius when he continually defended the Clintons.

People can change within 18 years

The problem with your assertion is that Dershowitz continues/remains on the side of most civil liberties fights. He was also a pretty consistent defender of Obama on many topics. No one of your ilk had a problem with him then either.

No...the problem with Dershowitz here is that in this case he sees a dangerous precedent being set. An intentional effort to cross a line (attorney-client privilege) solely for political purposes against a republican president. And for that, a liberal democrat Jew (legal scholar) attorney must be castigated.
