I hope Pelosi is not seriously hurt but the recent media reports say he was struck with the hammer AFTER the police got there. For all the time to pass for the police to get there and Pelosi is struck in their presence seems a little odd...

The initial media reports, I believe chiefly from the LA Times, gave a lot of fodder for these conspiracy theories to gain traction. Now they are being changed but the damage is done.
And conspiracy theories are not unique to one side or the other. One just needs to look at the attempts to portray DePape as a RWNJ...

The spin I think has been happening has been trying to pin a particular political ideology on a schizophrenic homeless nudist crazy person.
I don’t think the facts of what happened in the house are really in question or that initial reports were any more inaccurate than they always are for breaking news stories. The only thing I see is that some outlets misunderstood the police saying they didn’t know which of the two people in the house opened the door to mean that an unknown third person opened the door. It’s very easy to see how that misunderstanding happened and nothing makes sense if there was actually a third person.
In all honesty I haven't been following the news reports or the spin but do realize initial reports are often wrong - sometimes extremely wrong... But spin does exist.
I have said many times before there are crazies in the world and words have meanings and intent and can be used to trigger and weaponize these crazies. There is no rationale or reason to their actions and motives.
Interesting though that Pelosi wasn't attacked until the police were in the house though but these are the times we live in.
It makes sense though. The guy wanted Nancy, not Paul. Paul just happened to be there. He had no reason to take the hammer to Paul until it became obvious he wasn’t going to get a shot at Nancy since the police had arrived.

Well he’s crazy so you have to factor that in. But it’s not that complicated and I’m not sure what you’re not getting.
His target is Nancy. In crazy person logic he thinks breaking her kneecaps until she tells “the truth” about vaccinations etc etc will send some sort of message to the rest of congress. This is obviously batshit but the person who did it is batshit.
He breaks into the house and finds Paul, who’d been asleep, who he doesn’t give a shit about. He wants Nancy because nobody cares if he kneecaps a representative’s husband.
So his plan is still to wait for Nancy and do his thing. But Paul manages to make a call to 911 by saying he’s got to go to the bathroom, where luckily his phone was charging. He makes the call and the police show up.
So now our crazy perp has the cops coming inside and his plan is ruined. He lashes out at the only person nearby, Paul. He even said in his statement something to the effect of Paul having to take Nancy’s “punishment.”

Has it been confirmed there is video of the break in? There’s body cam video from the cops that shows a broken glass door. That’s pretty damn good evidence.
I haven’t been able to find a transcript of the call or anyone other than you saying he called him a friend, but it’s possible he did. The call was made with a dude with a hammer and some zip ties who was looking for his wife there, so speaking indirectly or in a coded way would make a lot of sense.

When her meds are off, she says things that make no sense...but by God, she believes it to be true, and through that lens I have to act like it makes sense to me to communicate with her and reassure her she is safe. There's no way there's not footage of the break-in. Absolutely no way. Hell, a Ring cam would have some footage, & that's the average man's system. They've stolen millions & millions through insider trading, of course they're going to have better security. Plus, that home got vandalized just last year when someone sprayed fake blood, wrote on the home, & left a pig's head in the driveway. An ABC affiliate reported on the vandalism & noted that "security cameras surround the home." There has to be a clip showing his direction approaching the home & him breaking into the back door. That's the story as reported right now - that he broke the glass on the back door & broke in. They have a good idea what time he broke in, too.
