New study shows marijuana for pain is B.S.

anybody who believes marijuana doesn't help with pain relief has obviously never dabbled in the devil's lettuce. how could someone be in pain when stoned out of their mind?

Last night I had a few gummies and a few IPAs. I think I made the exact comment "I'm feeling no pain"
"a few gummies"? either they were extremely low mg, yore lying, or yore still stoned out of your mind . . . or, you eat it like candy on the reg . . . which would explain a lot of your posts.

Indeed. I get 10 mg gummies. I find that a quarter to a half a gummy will take the edge off of back pain. And I agree with your assessment that two gummies and a six pack equals no pain.

my anecdotal experience with cancer patients is it doesn't help a ton with pain.
There's a wild gulf between helps a little and helps a ton.

How do your patients consume cannabis? In my experience, it is so much easier to get a "standard" dose with gummies or tincture, at least with quality ones where they seem to have some quality control. It's really hard to figure out what a "dose" is hitting on a joint, one toke might be too little, and two tokes they get that feeling they say they don't like. Me, I like that feeling; I'd be your patient that reported good results after burning a whole hog leg lol.

It is not legal in my state. So typically it's a relative that makes some edibles for granny or smokes her up. It's not exactly an exact science.

Plus, I'm dealing with cancer pain, not like arthritis/inflammatory pain. So maybe completely different than other peoples experience. Cancer pain very often needs opiates.

Indeed.

Do you get many cancer patients that also do not like how opiates make them feel and won't take them? Dad was like that, he took one, didn't like it, and never took another one.

Yup.

Or they’re so afraid of them (addiction or a family member got hooked) they won’t touch them. It’s a tough problem.

I've got them in CA, Vegas, and Michigan. I love making a run to Lume in MI, they have great Sunday discounts on edibles and their proprietary product is very good. That market must be saturated as the prices of all things pot are way down. In WV, even if you have a medical card, you can't buy gummies.

The way we deal with pain is puzzling. A number of years ago, I had a kidney stone that had to be removed surgically. It caused unbelievable pain to the point where I was put on a morphine drip. Even that didn’t seem to help a lot.
One night, the nurse came in and said they were going to try something new. It was a new medication that she said was non narcotic and not habit forming. She said it was like a “super Tylenol.”
They added the medication to the IV line and in moments the pain eased and I could sleep for the first time in days. When I left the hospital after surgery, they gave me a prescription for the tablet form ( can’t recall the name).
When I went to the pharmacy to have my prescription filled, the tech tapped on the computer a while then told me my insurance wouldn’t cover the medicine. He rattled off every opioid they would cover, but not the non narcotic, non habit forming drug. Go figure.
