Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris Burning to the Ground

If you turn to the a post in the previous page you'd see Raoul is the one who mentioned whisky first.

I missed your chastising of Raoul for ruining the thread by mentioning whiskey (not "whisky").

You sure didn't help save it by continuing the destruction of the thread. Are we allowed to talk about cheeto's tweet of the thread topic now that you've ruined the thread?

The work being done was masonry in nature. There have been 13 churches in France vandalized since February, including one being set on fire. I'll wait for an official report before buying in to a construction mishap. The Muslims sure seem to be rejoicing on Twitter concerning this unfortunate event.

General convention is Irish and American spirits are written as whisky, Canadian and Scottish as whiskey.

Kind of like ax and axe.

Just another isolated incident.

Move along.

Good morning, Glen Beck.

I'm going with a smoldering cigarette. Like a lot of construction fires.

You said that Raoul mentioned "whisky." He didn't. He mentioned "whiskey." So you are absolutely, entirely wrong.

Further, even your explanation is inaccurate in multiple ways. General convention is that American spirits are "whiskey" with a couple of exceptions. You claimed it is "whisky" for Americans. Wrong.

You then said that the Irish spell it "whisky" while the Scots use "whiskey." Both of those are also wrong.

In summary, your comment about Raoul mentioning "whisky" was wrong. Your comment about how American spirits are spelled was wrong. Your comment about Scots was wrong. Your comment about Irish was wrong. Your comment about Canadians was wrong.

You got every single claim entirely wrong. That's 0-5. God damn! The best part? Liarherdfan acted like you were right with your claims. Let me guess: he will cowardly hide from this thread like he always does now.

"Whether it is whisky or whiskey has been the basis of many arguments over many years. The Scots spell it whisky and the Irish spell it whiskey, with an extra 'e'. This difference in the spelling comes from the translations of the word from the Scottish and Irish Gaelic forms. Whiskey with the extra 'e' is also used when referring to American whiskies. This 'e' was taken to the United States by the Irish immigrants in the 1700s and has been used ever since. Scotland, Ireland and America all have a rich heritage in the whisky industry. So what are the differences between the whiskies from these three nations?"

"The Irish spell whiskey with an e between the k and the y while their Scottish counterparts leave out the e. The distinction, in addition to being the bane of proof readers, also offers some important insights into the evolution and history of whisky.

The US follows the Irish example and spells it with an e."

I will forever feel shame for getting so basic facts backwards without first checking with the Charles Van Doren of HN.

How will I ever live with myself.

Hari Kari is my only option.

That “e” isn’t as significant as it is when discussing plebs and plebes.

Your attempt in that thread was wrong. You argued the wrong thing. Link that thread, and I will dumb it down so even you can understand it.

Why? You ran away from that thread (which I give you credit for, by the way). You’ll just run away from this one too.

You do know a Muslim woman was sentenced to 8 years three days before the fire for plotting to burn the church, right?

Maybe one of her buddies wanted to honor her.

875 churches vandalized in France last year.

faulty logic

You do know the fire started in the roof...100 feet off the ground...right?

You do know there was no apparent fire when the first firefighters arrived, right? An initial small, smoldering fire is very common in construction fires.

You do know arson has already been ruled out, right? Because accelerant use is obvious as fvck.

I swear, some of you have actually gone stupid since 2016. Or maybe now you are not afraid of letting it show.
