sat thru the first half of saturday's odu v fau game - odu had big issues with tackling, and their passing game left a ton of points on the field....their qb is young but not really green - he's got loads of potential but just needs to get synched with his receivers

We should win easily but depends on how they respond to the loss

Hearing Lawry may be available for this game. That should help them some. I hope we pulverize them.

With our front 7, as you guys stated, I don't think they will get much done running the ball. If the offense can get on track, we should win this going away and one more victory from bowl eligibility

I feel like this is a trap game. I hope we stay humble and hungry.

I actually thought Charlotte would be a trap game. Good win at Cincy and very poor Charlotte team and small crowd.
ODU is homecoming, we didn't play well offensively last week and that unit will have something to prove - I hope. I think we win big unless we totally crap the bed in all three phases. jmo

It's as if the offense has been up every other game:

Miami (OH) - down
Kent - Up
NC State (Down due to NOTHING in the second half)
Cincy - Up
Charlotte - Down
ODU - ?

We are as about as consistent as colostrum

I wouldn't count Kent as an "up" offensive performance... King scored a late TD with fresh legs when their defense was out of gas. Overall the offense looked a lot like Charlotte.

Hopefully its better for homecoming this Saturday.

Statistically the offense played well last week we just didn’t score

Is there someway we can get Legg to stay home?

Bill Legg is doing what Doc tells him to do.

IMO, Doc is coaching like he is scared to death. The President, AD, and the entire football staff's jobs are on the line over what the Governor said about the current status of the program. Doc needs wins to keep his job and he has a young team with a very young Oline and a QB that is much improved but still unsettled.

Doc is trying to win games no matter if its ugly or not. I think the biggest thing everyone is missing again is just how young the team is and that we should see much improvement this year going into next season. I mean come on, its not like Doc and Legg have never put an offense on the field. Three or four years ago you had schools like Texas and others coming in to study what Marshall was doing on offense because of there performance.

relatively sparse and uninspired crowd at foreman field for odu v fau - if it hadn’t been port of virginia day section 115 would’ve been close to empty hahaha

I’m as frustrated as everyone withtheoffense but they were able to move the ball si they weren’t completely inept as some are suggesting. If you want to say that we couldn’t score then yes that’s true and it needs to change

That's the same as saying "we beat them in every phase of the game but lost."
Their job is to score, that's all that really matters on offense

yes....because things like time of possession are meaningless....der

actually, the job of the offense is to execute the gameplan and score more points than the other team - just a little bit of a difference. And to be the best they can be. So, in most respects, they succeeded against Charlotte, with possible exception of being the best they could have been.

what would we rather be. A team like Cato's 2012 team that went 5-7 but scored 40 plus per game or this years version, anemic on offense at times but 4-1?

Statistically the offense played well last week we just didn’t score

Statistically we didn't play well though. We had 400 yards against a team giving up 430. Which given the amount of time the D kept us on the field is particulaly disturbing.

We converted 42% of third downs against a team allowing 50.

And even though apparently scoring isn't a great measure of offensive performance now, we scored 14 against a team giving up 33 before we played them.

It was a crap offensive performance, and not good enough to win even this crap conference.

........agreed. The rest of our schedule looks like we should be favored in every game save MTSU & UTSA, & then only the 3 pt home field advantage. If we lose another game this season, I would be hugely disappointed. And, even if we were to finish 12-1 with our 2nd CUSA title, MIGHT get us in the 25th spot...

From the way they played at ODU, looks like FAU can put points on the board. Kiffin obviously believes in wide open Offense, so we'd better score more than 14 when we play them down in Boca Raton.

And without scoring, TOP is nothing but a meaningless moral victory

Marine said all that matters is scoring on offense. I sarcastically said yes TOP is meaningless....it's telling that you both must qualify it with "if you don't score" TOP is meaningless. TOP is a meaningful offensive measure, I'm sorry you two don't understand that.

Right now, we're the biggest dog at FAU. MT and UTSA are toss ups.
