Seymour is bad at adjustments, has been all year. The ODU OC made great adjustments that almost won the game for them.
No, he didn’t. Moten was trying to steal the ball that he didn’t give back after his first quarter INT. It’s why he was trying to hide the ball under his jersey while running off the field. The ball boy did what he was supposed to do. He didn’t “put his hands on the player.” He tried hitting the ball out of Moten’s hands to get the stolen ball back.
Moten knew what he was doing was wrong, hence why he was trying to hide the ball under his jersey.
And now we have some moronic Marshall fan named Mark Campbell showing his ass to Sun Belt fans while Marshall was the one entirely at fault:

Yes winning is the goal but it's ok to be critical even when you succeed. That's where growth happens and it's not something our defense has done lately. There are things wrong defensively and to quote your hero mark snyder, "we gotta get that fixed"
But. To add. The defense played very good in the first half. Giving up only 7 points to that same offense.
Defense could be better. But the offense is fun to watch! That’s the difference with this team vs his other teams. I know we can score at any given moment and to me, that is fun football.
That was hardly "by any means necessary." Did you watch the video that wasn't televised? The video where Moten was running by him and the ball by simply reached out to knock the ball out of his arm? That's hardly "by any means necessary" and is completely reasonable and justifiable to do to somebody who is stealing your belongings.

Of course I was bitching. We gave up 150+ years on the ground to a qb. As a fan, I'm pretty sure I'm entitled to bitch about it. How is that in any way a "melt down"?

We're all in this together. Offense, defense, special teams. Sometimes one has to pick up the other, which happened on Saturday.
Yeah, their QB was mobile and torched us on the ground. He also was fumbling the ball. MU didn't get many turnovers from it but I certainly would be weary of having him doing it, which is basically all they were really able to do consistently, a big risk.
I'm not saying you can't complain, I'm saying you look foolish in doing so, especially after the game is over. You're trying to bring up things that don't matter anymore to justify whatever argument you're trying to make.

You think because it happened to work out in our favor in that particular game, we shouldn't point out and discuss the staffs' inability to recognize and counter what an opposing team was doing? Particularly when this same issue - that is, the inability to make in-game adjustments to another team's scheme - has been a recurring theme for Huff and his staff. A theme that cost us at least one game this season, multiple games in the past, and could have cost us this weekend had it not been for the heroics of Braxton' and the offense.
I don't think you understand how a message board works. You need to get off Semore's nutsack. That was an absolute disaster class on how not to play the read option and further evidence that this staff struggles with in-game adjustments.
Also, if you want to talk about ridiculous arguments, aren't you the one that claimed the defense was worn down, even though they were getting destroyed the entire second half?
They absolutely matter especially if they aren't corrected by next week

This was a nice TEAM win. With our road record lately, we need to be happy with any win on the road.
Also, our offense was able to pick up the slack for the defense. Which is what happens when you have a solid QB finally. This is a game we’ve lost in years past solely for that reason.
That said, it all comes down to one game. And for two games in a row, our defense has appeared to be out of solutions late in games.
We were getting absolutely TORCHED by simple read option. This game alone could be enough to damage Mike Greens draft stock. They were running option straight at him unblocked and he was struggling.
Also, Green at least twice, and the other DEs as well, got shut down on inside pash rush moves giving up huge 3rd down scrambles. That’s a big no no against a scrambling QB.
Our front 7 looked as poorly coached as I’ve seen in a while, and it needs fixed in a hurry if we hope to win two key road games in a row.

If you watch the longer video which is available the ball boy was fairly aggressive trying to retrieve the ball. A couple of ODU posters on the CUSA broad who witness the entire event said the ball boy was wrong and the Marshall player's response was also bad.

How many rush yards did Braxton have? 140 yards. So, it works both ways.

I said the offense was scoring really fast, which is fine, but a long, sustained scoring drive would have given the defense time to rest, eaten clock, and put more pressure on their offense to score.
It didn't work out that way, and I, unlike you, won't complain about it since MU won and that's what matters in the end.
...and? We all know how some will react if MU doesn't make adjustments.
What'll be interesting is how some will spin it if MU does make adjustments.
If MU loses at JMU, this incident will come up as another reason to fire Huff.
Thing is, some on here are not confident the MU coaching staff can make the adjustments in defense for JMU, based on the past lack of adjustments...most notably, GA Southern because they actually beat MU.
I don't get too worked up over a win with mistakes because we simply cannot know if MU will make adjustments until the game, and thus, regular season is over.
When the season is said and done, this can be re-examined.
Let's face it, plenty based their predictions of MU's record based on the previous season, and pretty much everyone's been proven wrong on record.
Looks like Huff may prove them wrong again, and if he does, I don't think some could handle it.
The tone of your post infers that I'm upset we won. I'm not. Hell, I even said in this very thread that the defense did just enough to win. It also suggests I'm anti-Huff. This is also incorrect. See my post on the other thread re: offering him an extension.
That being said, why do you think questioning poor coaching means you (1) want Marshall to lose, and/or (2) are a "bad" fan? There's nothing wrong with pointing out shortcomings with the team. Is it your position the defense was good? Because that's certainly a take. A terrible one, but a take nonetheless. This is a message board. Banter, arguing, and criticism are the entire point of it existing. If you are offended by that, maybe you should fvck off. Just a thought.

1. Because the pre-season beliefs of the majority of people on here at the start of the season, was how bad is MU going to be and 7 wins was considered generous. Now that that has been proven largely false, people are scrambling to dissect any parts of the games (in this case, the defense) where the team doesn't play as well as a means to justify their pre-season bias.
My take was not the defense was good. It was a team effort and well balanced teams can rely on one to pick up after the other if needs be.
2. I also am not one who goes back (maybe not you directly) to other games over a month ago to point out why the HC isn't good presently. Once more, bias.
My post criticizing the defense wasn't an attempt to justify any preseason predictions. Hell, I don't even think I made any predictions. I do think we have exceeded expectations at this point. There are several reasons for that.
One of those reasons is that Huff has done an excellent job bringing in portal talent to upgrade our roster. We've simply had better players than some of our opponents this year, which has put us in excellent position going into the last week of the season. Huff should be commended for this. It's why I suggested in the other thread that we needed to be working on an extension. However, we've also benefited from playing a weak conference schedule, avoiding some of the better teams in the West. In any event, credit where it's due - we've put together a good season, regardless what happens this weekend.
Even so, this staff's inability to adjust, or to respond to our opponents' adjustments is concerning. And this isn't just about the Georgia Southern game, as you keep attempting to argue. This has been a constant problem throughout Huff's tenure. I don't think you could mount any serious arguments to the contrary. That being the case, it's okay to commend Huff and company for what they've done right, but to criticize and question the things they haven't. Huff is young. He's certainly not a finished product as a head coach. One of the things he needs to work on - maybe the most glaring - is making adjustments on the fly and closing out games. I hope he's able to do that. Hell, I hope he can do that here. But if this continues to be a problem, you shouldn't expect people to ignore it. Fans are going to fan, which means discussing and criticizing the team, coaches, and (gasp) the individual players.
If we come out and take an early lead against JMU and then let them back into the game in the second half - a running theme - don't expect people to just ignore it, whether we win or lose. It's a fair and valid point of discussion.
To me, the end result, the win, is what matters in the immediate.
Long term is the season ending and seeing what happened as a measure of progress.
While I see your point, in simply find it a waste to bring up losses in the past when MU, still won, yet had a defense that struggled.
Imagine if MU holds JMU to 3 for 4 quarters but the offense putters?
As for the extension, I gave my view of it.
But you'd have laughed me off the board if I said we should offer him prior to the start of this season since, "I think he can turn things around and utilize the portal" and basically everything you highlighted.
Now, Spears is a fool if he doesn't.
But MU has let people go who made the title game in the past so it's not out of the ordinary here.
Has MU ever actually fired a head coach? I feel MU either has them hired away or simply doesn't re-sign...or they resign.
