Without those republican appointed judges, there would be 9 democratic appointed judges instead of the 5-4 current split. Since all four democratic appointed judges voted together, it isn't far-fetched to assume that at least 1 out of 5 more democratic appointed judges would have also agreed with them. Most likely, "without these republican appointed justices," it would have been a 9-0 vote. So, your statement is as wrong as you are going to be exposed to be on these social issues over time.

If the Republican presidents would have appointed conservative nominees instead of the liberal leaning justices they appointed then NO the vote would not have come out that way.

On the current Supreme Court, five of the justices were appointed by republican presidents. All five of those justices, not surprisingly, are republicans.
Four out of those five justices voted against gay marriage. The only dissent, the swing vote, was from Kennedy. The four justices appointed by Clinton/Obama voted in favor of gay marriage.
So, explain again how this vote wouldn't have happened if not for the justices these republican politicians appointed.
