Potential Hole Filling Games

As was written above VMI, Cincinnati and UCF for sure.

You're not going to play QB3 in place of QB2 (in games 1 and 4) when said QB2 hasn't taken enough snaps for you to feel comfortable with.

What if QB1 goes down in Game 5, and you've taken snaps away from QB2? That just sounds idiotic.

I'm talking a series or two. Obviously you are so far your brother Docs butt you can't see the good it could have done with no I'll effect
You asked the question. Ans 2 or 3 of us gave you an answer. Just leave it alone and agree to disagree. None of us are making a living at coaching football so it is a moot. I do believe that many coaches FAR more successful than Doc would have let him play a series in 3 to 4 games that were out of hand.

I hate to keep going back to '95 but #1 goes down, then #2 goes down. Now, Pruett is "stuck" with playing #3, a 17-year-old-freckle-faced-true-freshman from Tennessee. How'd that turn out? Let's just say the rest is history. You don't know what you've got until you let them show you. And you do that by letting them play.

You do so to give them some game experience. Jim Harbaugh played his 3rd string QB last year. Why? Because he knew he had a senior starter that was leaving the program, setting up this seasons battle for the starting spot, while allowing both backups to get some needed real game PT. Doc knew his 2nd string QB was done after the season, so why use him in mop up time, when he could have allowed the projected backup for the upcoming season to get some playing time. He could have at least played him during the VMI, Cincinnati, and UCF games. Is Doc aware of the new red shirt rule that went into effect a couple years ago?
Way too deep thinking for Doc to ever figure out. That’s why he always has that “deer in the headlights “ look on the sidelines.

The scoring margin in the games Milton played was 31 points. Marshall didn't have that luxury last season. Which goes back to the question, which games would you have played Wells in?

Using solid logic, you can't find four games that he should've played in.
Milton actually got some action (a few series) during close games, mostly when running specific plays they planned to call to utilize his athletic ability. I think he only played in three games though, if I can remember. Doc had at least three games that were out of hand, where QB3 could have been inserted for a series. Point being, you can play a guy up to four games, and still utilize his/her red shirt. I'm starting to wonder if some of us made the right call in naming you the coach-in-waiting at this point, although I still favored making rifle the C-I-W.

Could you elaborate on the “getting punched by his roommate/tight end” part any? Can’t say I heard about that
It stems from Chase Litton supposedly getting into a fight with Ryan Yurachek during the 2016 campaign that he pretty much single-handedly ruined. Its my understanding the kerfluffle took place at FIU, and lead to Litton being held out for the season finale against WKU that we lost by 842 points, turning our field turf brown, our womens' wombs to dust, and our program to ashes.

Yea I thought that sounded more like a Litton thing than an IG thing

I’m not made that way man.

It’s ok if you are, but I’m not.

Pot....meet kettle.
Granted I love Danny but he is exciting and open. Everything Doc is not. He gets the fans excited, even in a loss. Shoot unfortunately many of us don't get excited about the product Doc puts on the field even in a win. Believe me it hurts me to have lost my excitement for Herd football. Next year with a new coach at least I will have excitement again and get season tickets again and make road trips again. I will give the new guy a fair chance. I have many friends that feel exactly the same

I agree...it seems that most of the chunk plays on the offense is via the running game. Since Cato/Shuler left, the passing game has ranged from mediocre to poor to subpar to horrible.

For the guys much more in the know than me - are there viable options @ this point if the @ECU and vs Appy games go by the board?

rifle said Bluefield State is starting football back up again. This would be an ideal time to schedule them, prior to them having players, coaches, or even uniforms.
Good way of Doc padding his resume with another W.
