Interesting article about religious trends by state. The last table shows that WV is one of the leading states in terms of an increase of citizens who are atheist/agnostic/unaffiliated. Maybe the state has a chance after all.

Also interesting that the poorest and most desperate states in the country (Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana) are the most religious. Christianity: It holds you down.

People such as yourself that have limited knowledge or understanding of the Christian faith shouldn't try to provide analyses of it.

One only has to have a basic working knowledge of the Bible and/or human nature to understand how this works. In Genesis Adam and Eve weren't satisfied and wanted to have the knowledge of God. Also in the OT the Israelites were God's chosen people yet that wasn't good enough and they started worshipping golden idols.

This has continued to modern times as human nature really doesn't change. In prosperous times people think they did it themselves and are self-sufficient and don't need God. When times are tough, economically or otherwise, people turn to God.

So like virtually everything else you've got it backwards. Christianity doesn't hold people down but rather it uplifts them when they are down.

You're only about 6,000 years late to that discovery but hey, better late than never...

Parental rights? What about the child's rights? It's a procedure that has and will fail 100% of the time and a child isn't old enough to make that decision. If a parent wants to let an adult have sex with her six-year-old child, she doesn't have the right. The kid isn't at the age of consent.

Christian faith

Faith is good. Religion is bad. Religion is a social-cultural system. It takes advantage of people who have faith.

Religion has been used as a tool to justify some of the most horrendous policies in American history.

Of current political interest: religion is the basis for Christian nationalism. Not faith.

Many of today's most famous and influential ministers are men and women of religion, not faith. They are false prophets and charlatans. They may not even intend to be a false prophet, socio-cultural forces can be that influential. This also applies to liberal ministers, see Jeremiah Wright. But conservative charlatans have far more influence, simply due to the conservative nature of American religion.
