Guy published over 250 works of fiction. Say what you want, to crank out that much fiction is impressive. In terms of just production alone, L Ron’s arguably one of the greatest fiction writers the world has even known. That much, fiction. Like, an insane amount of space fiction.

Let's turn to that great mental giant of this forum for his take on science fiction writers...

Meanwhile, everything he posts is science fiction so he must not want any competition...

So he’s good at writing things that are completely unrealistic, have no basis in practicality, and don’t make any sense? Yeah, I could have guessed that from the quote you posted of his. That’s basically science fiction.

This is a total aside with nothing to do with Scientology but, you’d be surprised. Back in the 40s, 50s and 60s there was a lot of sci fi published, much of it serialized in magazines. A good amount of sci fi work has effectively been lost since it was just published in a magazine and forgotten about. Most of it was probably trash, but some are lost stories from authors who later became famous.

Asimov wrote about 500 books, although they were not all nonfiction. Clarke wrote about 100 but also wrote a TON of short stories. Heinlein was up around 100 too I think.

Hubbard wrote a ton and is recognized as such, but it was kind of the norm during that time period for whatever reason. It’s like we had this sense of wonder in the 40s-60s that people couldn’t get enough of.
