If it doesn't start with one man, how does it start? Seriously, offer an apprentice program for inner city youth, it's a win-win. You get to back up your talk, get cheap labor, make someone's future brighter and some young man gets to learn a trade. Why wouldn't you do that? I've actually worked for a jobs training program for the underprivileged. I've actually paid for the meals of a dozen or so once a week for several months while they were being trained. And you?
So you're saying your business has no projects currently. Well hell if that's the he case maybe you should spend less time on here and more time drumming up some business
I've also admitted I'm not a business owner so what's your point. And if you have work projects you don't need funding. Just have a kid come in and help you with current projects from planning design building finishing and install.

Jesus man. What's different than what occurs for an employee? Apprentices are paid employees. No grant necessary. It's built into your p&l costs. You are an embarrassment.
Extra will bring him in if he can get him for below minimum wage. Extra, it's just allow a kid to shadow you while you do what you were going to do anyway. There is no additional cost except your time to explain what you are doing while you are doing it. I've had people shadow me throughout my career as part of their education.
You are already building the damn cabinets if you have a project. So God or xenu forbid thatbyiubtry to teach a young kid while you are already doing work you would be doing otherwise. And no one said it had to be a paid apprenticeship

Shadowing does nothing except perhaps give someone an idea if that's what they might want to do.

The first thing you have to usually do is teach them basic math, then teach them fractions in particular, and then teach them to read a tape measure. Explain how you do just this while I'm doing the work I would be doing otherwise. Once again, you are a moron.
Visit a local cabinet shop. Walk through it a dozen times, and then go home and build some kitchen cabinets. Let us know how that works out for you.
Hell you can teach while you work. Have them sweep saw dust tighten screws Give them some scrap and have them learn to read a tape. There are ways to do it you just don't want to period.
