Stripe the Stadium?

Hopefully as game time gets closer, they'll promote through mainstream media and often. A tweet and "spreading the word" won't cut it. jmo

I would say this is what will happen and probably be announced several times during the game the week before. Now is not the time to really market the game. As it gets closer it makes more sense. I feel like it is going to turn out just fine.

Will never look good. Again, very poor planning. All successful "striping" involves putting the correct color shirt on each seat. But at Marshall, rely on the fans to do it. Not going to happen...

How is it poor planning? We are over a month away from the game. We have two home games before the UofL game. And how do you know that a sponsor isn't going to step up to provide shirts? A lot can happen between now and the Louisville game. Heck Hamrick hasn't said a word anywhere about it. I will reserve my judgement about success or not when we are closer and see what Marshall will do to promote it.

other schools provide shirts every time there is a stripe the stadium? No
Some schools have done it that way, but I don't believe that is the usual method. WVU, for one, does not provide shirts for football games and has had very successful striped and gold/blue solid-color events. There have been WVU basketball games when a sponsor provided shirts, but never for football.

They seek sponsorship and there is advertising on the shirts but you are correct. Not sure why they isn't being done now.

it could be. we don't know what is going on behind the scene. I haven't heard we are or aren't doing something like that. In fact I haven't even really heard Hamrick talk about it. We have plenty of time to get sponsorships secured and planning done for this. It could already be done for all we know.

The problem with the sponsor is there are 10 different size shirts at least that people need. What a waste of money to get adult large.. For example

Why would you care? Your mightly Mountaineers will be playing BYU that day in Washington.

Go away.

Back in my days as an undergrad they did a White Out for the game against Cincinatti, and they provided sponsored white T-Shirts in every seat for everyone in size XL. I guess the idea was anyone can wear a t-shirt that's too big but a t-shirt that's too small is a bit difficult. Hopefully they'll do something similar for this game.

As I recall back when Shaq, Pitts, and Kane wanted the blackout for their last game Verizon or someone asked if they could provide the tshirts granted it would have Verizon on the back. Allegedly Hamrick said no because it wasn't fair to the local businesses.

So how much does a t-shirt cost and how many sponsors would you need to pay for it?

38,000 shirts @ $10 each = $380,000.00

I think if Mike Hamrick could find that much sponsor money, he'd rather spend it on something other than t-shirts. JMO

According to the internet the price at discountmugs for custom printed T-shirts averages out to $3 a shirt for large orders ($2 for the white, $4 for the green I'm assuming an equal number of each shirt). That's $114,000 total.

But, your other point is a little off base. Sponsors have a say in how their money is spent. T-shirts are a pretty cheap and effective form of advertising for them. While Hamrick might have other ideas, you have to consider what the interests of the sponsor are as well.

Well I like the idea of the green out, but I also fear of empty seats. Nothing looks dumber than stripes or other promotions with empty sections. I'm sure Ville will have huge numbers but why would we do that for Morgan State? Is it close to sold out?

Tennessee pulls off a perfect 100,000 person orange and white checkerboard without a single shirt on the seats. We'll be fine.

This promotion is for the Louisville game, not Morgan State.

Morgan State is "Kelly Green Out". Loserville is "Stripe The Stadium". Middle is "Opperation Black Out".

I am sure MH has made provisions for each. I am sure we will look as good as any other school does, unless it rains which usually causes even the most ardent fans to pull out the rain gear. And, despite Iherddat's hopes and wishes, we will draw very well for each game, while the sons and daughters of New Jersey watch Drunkerson's hapless charges muddle through another meaningless year as OU and TU's bitch.

Who is TU? I wouldn't want to be their bitch. They sound like losers. As for the stripe the stadium, I'm looking forward to it. Student sections are all green.

No doubt 1988, he didn't even know there was more than one game with a promotion, including Morgan state

Of course not. Just like you were unaware of the IPF, that USPAM refuses to play us in basketball anymore, and said you were a freshman and could not remember things from the 90s, which you later spoke upon. Now you are unaware of the promotions, which are printed on the schedule poster and the schedule cards which are all over the region.

Because you are a Spamite with no relationship to our University. Or the other one either.

Go away.

Fake Sam.. Your gibberish is getting old. No one listens to you here because you just whine and babble and never make any legitimate points about the program. Go away

What exactly is in this charade for you? "Your" team gets assreamed. With no rivals and no hope, life as a field filler in the Big 2, Little 8 gets old. Thus the petty jealousy and disdain for Marshall. At the end of the day, all you people have is "But Marshall..."

But why this act? Just take it over to the many USPAM boards, where "usens is gonna win that there national champienship" is the current mantra. You have already, like the several who have tried this same act before you (some of which may very well be you) , made so many mistakes as to expose yourself for what you are.

A person with no relationship to our University. Or its little brother.

Sam just relax man. You don't need to get your panties in a wad every time someone makes you look bad. Once the season starts we can head over to 20th street and get a beer before the game and grab a burger at fat Pattys afterwards. It's all good man!

BB- someone who has a legitimate opinion but people get butthurt because I don't kiss their ass and suck off Marshall. I like the Herd and can't wait for the season, but I don't hate WVU the way Fake Sam and Queenhouse do so therefore I'm a troll.

Mods I ask you again who is this poster "I herd dat"?

I spoke with him offline and I'll be honest, I don't think he's a WVU troll. Think being the operative word.

Like @The Real SamC mentioned, if he is a troll what exactly is he trying to accomplish?

He hasn't broken any rules so I don't see the need to banish him from the board.
