Shouldn't it be a hate crime when a male beats a female?

It should be a crime. Why should it be a hate crime? Is child abuse a hate crime? Kids are more vulnerable than many adults? I've also seen a lot of TV shows and movies where the heroine beats up at least 3 burly men. Doesn't life imitate art???
