The basketball team is terrible.

I will qualify this win though. While Arkansas State is a very physical team (yet only had 3 fouls in the first half...) they didn't seem to have a lot of size. Big reason why Nate had such a good game.

Fricks protected the rim well while Obinna and Nate were on the bench. We may just match up well with them.

Very impressed with the improvement in defense over last year. Responded well to the physical play from Arkansas State last night. Refs let them bump and get rough. We were shy at first, but after 7 0r 8 minutes, we started pushing back and not being intimidated. Credit to Corny and his staff. Fricks was a stud both offensively and defensively during the stretch he was in. But Martin played an outstanding game on both ends and was seldom off the floor. Great game to watch. Wish our guards were a bit quicker, but they get the job done. Dawson sucked in first half, but gave us a big lift in second half.

Interesting matchup this week. SoAl plays a 2-3 zone almost exclusively, trying to get opponents to fire up a bunch of 3’s. We’ve had time to prepare, so hopefully we continue the road game winning streak….

Mediocrity or Parity?

Tough loss. We had our chances, but went ice cold in OT. USA’s zone is very difficult to go against, plus their leading scorer made some unbelievable shots inside on his way to 26 points. On to ULL.

We have to be more disciplined in our shot selection. Jacking up three's wont win games all the time. Work the ball a bit. Defensively, we let them come down the lane all game long and never adjusted. Corny has to make adjustments. Hard fought game.

Beat UL and go from there.

Agreed. They aren't a good enough shooting team to stand behind the line and just chuck up threes. This team thrives when they go to the basket.

Not sure that Moore was the culprit. He was 1 out of 4, Speer was 3 out of 11, and Dawson was 6 out of 17. Moore did take at most 3 bad shots. I think both Speer and Dawson took more!
Certainly enough blame to go around. Just too many by all. Corny needs to reign them in.

But how bad were the 3 that he missed?

One shot missed everything and the other 2 looked like good attempts. Speer and I believe Dawson also had shots that missed everything. Timing of the shots seemed to be the issue. Many were rushed by all three.

I think Dawson has to rush his shots. It seems like his release is very low - have you noticed that?

Watched 🌽’s post game. He’s pretty fed up! I hope we can re-group, but our road woes continue, with 2 more this week. I thought ODU would be a gimee, but after ULL all bets are off

I fell in love with MU bball as a kid. Now a retiree, it saddens me that interest has fallen so far that an old fart like me is keeping this thread going! Where’s the juice for 🌽’s kids?

Same here. I try to go to every home game. Was busy yesterday so I didn't even get a chance to listen or check the score.

I do look at the box score after most every game. Dawson struggled from 3 again. As bad as he has been shooting he still has a respectable % for the season.

I noticed from yesterday's game Corny seemed to follow D'Antoni's late season trend - play your starters for 35 minutes each. I don't think that helps your post-season chances...

Nutter was out and Gibbs was out for a second game.

Mingo, Dawson and Spear play a lot of minutes. But they should be able to.

He does a great job getting rest for everyone else.

I think many are greatly underestimating how great, yes I said great, of a job Corny is doing.
