And, a racoon to boot. That's how ****ed up govt is. Hey men can piss and shower in the women's lockeroom but, you better not rescue a squirrel and keep it at home. they will send a swat team in after it. Then, not put the squirrel or racoon in a zoo or rescue place or hell back in the damn woods. Nope they give them the death penalty.

The govt is so screwed up. A million people can walk across the border. Kids go missing. But, damn it go get the squirrel and racoon.

They would never try that here. My squirrels have 500 relatives.

i don't have much sympathy for this situation, the law is the law. to break the law and put it out on social media expecting nothing to happen is dumb.

it's likely the same in WV, i.e. no wild animals as pets, i'm not sure, but i've a couple friends who've had various different wild animals as pets. deer, squirrel, and ground hog (prairie dog for the granolas) to name a few.

one of the pet deer had a red ribbon wrapped around its neck in hopes nobody would shoot it. didn't work, it was in a bunch of brush and the person that shot it could only see it's head. after the shot, the head was the only part one couldn't see.

owner of the ground hog had a video of it sitting on their counter eating nachos.

It all boils down to one group of humans continually pushing what they consider freedom and another group who is never content unless they are controlling every aspect of behavior. It has always been this way and always will be.

Bingo. And why is this the law? Because dumbasses have been irresponsible in the past.

Dude's pet squirrel bit someone. He's irresponsible.

A friend of mine rescued a fawn, mama got hit by a car and died. I don't want to say it's a pet per se, because it can come and go as it pleases. But they have put a blaze orange vest on it that has the word PET on it. I'm curious to see if this works out well.

WV bans the crazy stuff. You can't have a lion, tiger, alligator, an actual wolf, etc.

Technically you can have, say, a fox or bobcat if the DNR gives you a permit to do so. And I understand they are pretty strict about giving those permits.
