Rule changes, investigations over cheating, and the dumbest ass play call I have ever seen in my life.

The worst part of it is all the teams are mediocre. I am tired of watching mediocre teams. I want the dynasties back and two good teams meeting in the Super Bowl.

Each year I find myself wanting to do or watch something else other the Vagina Football League akA NASCAR on a field.

They pay a dumb ass coach millions off dollars to make that play call. I would fire his dope smoking a** on the side line. Why? For being an idiot.

Now, for 6 months we will hear about this inflate things. Just like NASCAR. Did Jimmy have too much air in his tires?

Screw the NFL. I am wondering if this stuff is rigged?

I saw a story today saying that there was only 1 ball that was 2 lbs under. The rest were a little under 12.5 to 1 lb less, which can be explained by weather conditions. So deflate gate, like I said all along, was just something for the media to talk about leading up to the super bowl.

I don't care about any NFL team. I only follow past Marshall players, but that was as good of a game as I could have hoped for. Insane ending

As a football fan how was that not great. Take any dislike for the teams/players out of your thinking

There are many things wrong with this post but I will start with the obvious... You want a great team? How about a team with 6 super bowl appearances and 4 trophies in 14 years? With arguably the greatest quarterback in the history of the league and a Hall of Fame head coach? Hmmmm if only the NFL had a team like that...

I hate the Patriots, but Brady is a legend now and they are a dynasty.

I will absolutely agree that play call was horrendous. Seattle has the best downhill runner in the game, a timeout, and they need 2 feet for the win. Give it to beast mode and let him win it.

The NFL is bigger than it's ever been.

If you feel the NFL is a joke like NASCAR, you have no clue what you're talking about.

Hey I don't watch it that much until.the playoffs. I am getting g to the point I can't stand it. One day it may be like the NBA to me.

I went to a nfl game and I swear half the time half the players were going through motions playing grab ass. I think there is some unwritten code about not wanting to hurt the other guy. Those guys are making millions and I think they are protecting it. Half the time I thought a pillow fight was going to break out. Let him down easy now.

They play harder in certain games and the playoffs. I think half the time they would rather play two hand touch.

Oh the Patriots are the best. BBut mediocre team ever.

Worst play call I have ever witnessed. Bruce Irvin staying classy as usual.

Well that does sound quite a bit like the Pro Bowl. It doesn't sound like any of the NFL games I have persnally attended.

Same here.

I went to the Browns & Ravens game in Cleveland after our game @Akron.

I've been to Happy Valley when PSU played OSU & Terrell Pryor and there was a "white out". That's about the only college atmosphere I've witnessed that was close to a regular season Browns game.

it's the total commercial, uber-capitali$t aspect that is matching it to nascar and now, college football is heading the same way. however, yours and my 401 make us part of the problem...everybody wants the highest return possible...but when you get greedy....

regarding the NFL from a purely game-of-FB view, they are the best in the world so it's great, but too well oiled for me, too slick, not near the character that CFB still has at the moment...that balance of raw and a little oiled feel that hasn't yet been destroyed by the P5 power grab.

just like nascar, when they removed the small track, hometown feel, I was done. period.

it could be that i'm old-school and the younger gens are OK with it all (like being attached to a data device 24/7). one day, i will probably say FU to CFB.

I am with herdman, pillow fights and grab ass can't cause concussions--nfl is faking concussions. Seau's suicide was staged. the NFL is paying out millions for hiding concussions just to create attention. And nascar allows Jimmy Johnson to run overinflated tires--what does that even refer to?

So, extragreenherdman...

Please enlighten us to what nfl teams youd prefer to see in the Superbowl.

As though the best defense in the last 3 years and one of the best teams the last 10 years isnt enough.

Don't you just love when someone rails against something then when someone counters them they say they don't really watch it all that much.

Outside of the result that was a pretty darn good game last night.

You can't be actually serious. NFL is made-for-TV, overly corporate, way over exposed, and run by a complete idiot. Game atmospheres are terrible. The sport is also plagued by mediocre to bad teams.

However, that was a great game last night. Despite all of the problems, NFL football between two good teams is still a great product.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving prick than Pete Carroll. His legacy will be the bonehead call. He's be a cheater all his career -- look at the mess he left at Southern Cal.

Me too. Pro Football is nearing that point. Each season I find other things to do on a Sunday afternoon. College may get that way one day. I hope not.

I appreciate the NFL from the aspect of them being some of the best athletes in the world. But, the game has lost something to me. Can't quite put a finger on it. Maybe the game? The commercialization of the game? Salary Cap? Heck I don't know. But, I watch fewer games each year. Or I may turn it on in the background and do something else.

None of them. There isn't too much difference between the Patriots and the Bengals(insert any other team here).

The NFL decided it didn't want dominate teams anymore so, it spread the wealth about. They are all pretty much the same. You could have stuck two other teams in there and got the same results.

No way pro games match the pageantry and emotion of college ball. Hell, you are watching a bunch of millionaires that might play somewhere else next season or leave because they want a million more.

I've seen better more emotional atmospheres at a Marshall.

BWAHAHAHA!!!!

Good lord you're a moron.

In sad attempts to justify your rants about basketball...all you could complain about was how corrupt college football is with the greed and how they want to pay players and establish themselves with money...

"Watching a bunch of millionaires that might play somewhere else next season or leave because they want a million more..."

I could've used that line in one of your no-hope-for-WV rants about Marshall and college ball in general, and your dumbass would've agreed with me!!!

You have even alluded to the idea that the NFL and NCAA aren't going to have much of a difference in a few years.

lol you're pathetic.

Dynasties? You mean.. like the Patriots? How many Super Bowls since 96? 7? I'd say 7 Super Bowls in 19 years is pretty good. Throw in the times they were one game from the Super Bowl and it's probably 10.

Was there a football game yesterday ? , watched 3.5 hours of Swamp People ( gator hunters) something that made sense.

Have to admit , a couple of times ( when the other show went to commercial which is very infrequent) I did flip to see what the score was..but did not know the outcome until this morning nor see what may be the most assign call in all of history ( the pass)

Something about watching these guys go after gators that is just fun..cant wait to fix the 10 pounds of gator meat we brought back from Louisiana after spending a week in New Orleans as well as a few days in Baton Rouge...gator..now that is some seriously good eating if you know how to prepare it.

Yes, very true about the mediocre Browns game comment vs PSU-OSU.

1) Cleveland tailgates every bit as hard as any college program I've been to (Tennessee, Va Tech, Penn St, & wvu). I also went to the Panthers-49ers playoff game in Carolina last January. Atmosphere was even greater for that, but I didn't bring that up because it's a playoff game.

2) I've never been to a football game where it felt like you were about to come out of a tunnel and run onto the field while you were in line to get into the stadium. Browns fans were chanting stuff, Enter Sandman was blasting on the speakers, felt like the ground was shaking, people were slapping the metal signs hanging on the gate to get in, etc. It was pretty damn intense.

3) There was a "do or die" reaction from the crowd after every play. There were loud "ooohs and ahhhs" after every single play. People were knowledgable about football & as soon as the Ravens came up short on 2nd down, everyone stood up to make noise. People couldn't wait for an opportunity to stand up instead of sitting there and seeing everyone stand up before they realize it was 3rd down. During play reviews, there wasn't a band playing and some sort of sing along to distract from the game. Everyone around me was discussing or arguing over what they seen on the replay and predicting what the call would be on the field. After the game, the walk back to the car was silent. It was like all of the energy had been sucked out of the city. After every college game I've been to (the WKU game this year being the only exception), when the home team wins or loses, everyone is wondering where the party is at?

If you haven't been to a pro game, I understand why you don't believe it's like that at pro games. They don't show all the pregame tailgating during the broadcast, they don't show much of the fans, and I think they intentionally play more crowd noise into the college broadcasts and they filter out a lot of it during the pro broadcasts. Like all people talk about is how loud Seattle is and it doesn't sound much louder than any other pro stadium. But I can tell you that both pro games I've been to had a better atmosphere than an college game I've been to. I sat on the 25 yard line, 10 rows up from OSU's bench at Beaver stadium. And I've sat in the end zone twice in Knoxville when Tennessee has played Miss St & Marshall. I also went to Nashville last year when the Colts came in to play the Titans on a Thursday night. I didn't go to the game, but was outside the stadium for a brief time and went across the river to go to some of the bars. The place sounded like a rock concert in there. I haven't been to The Swamp or Baton Rouge for a night game, but comparing PSU-OSU in Happy Valley to a Browns-Ravens game....the overall pro product is much better than college.

If you really think there isn't much difference between the Patriots and the Bengals, you need to stop commenting about the NFL, because you clearly don't have a clue what you're talking about. And I'm a long-time (suffering) Bengals fan.

the bitching negative schtick of herdman is a bit old and tiresome.

although, I wouldn't mind him getting on a women's basketball rant. my god, I think there are more women's bball televised now on major and minor channels than men. who wants to watch that crap?

If the Patriots, right now, played Cincy on a natural field what would the odds be? Patriots by what?

If they played at the Bengals, what would the odds be?

Nobody cares about it. But, ESPN and the other media outlets feel compelled to show it. This country is so vaganified that they show that stuff on and on. I am not sure who watches it. Last I read the WNBA was really broke but the NBA didn't want to do away with it even though they are losing money. I guess they feel guilty.

For two weeks I kept laughing at the girls and idiots saying they were rooting for Seattle because the Patriots were cheaters. I kept telling them they were rooting for one of the worst cheaters in the history of football. They couldn't intelligently respond because they knew nothing about football.

A natural field? Do you mean real grass as opposed to plastic? Or a neutral field?

Is it a regular season game or a post-season game?

This year the Pats destroyed the Bengals in NE. Score was something like 45-17.

Last season the Bengals did beat the Pats in Cincinnati but was very close.

Biggest difference though is post season. Bengals haven't won a single playoff game since Jan. 1991. Pats have 4 SB wins in 6 appearances in the last 13 or 14 seasons. HUGE difference. So there is clearly a big difference when talking about the SB, which is what I thought you were discussing from the context of your post.

You should probably stick to youth sports.

Thanks Rhino for pointing out the stats of the Super Bowl Champs===NE Pats. For a moment I felt I would be sending my Detroit bookie $110. But, the "dumb call" you refer to ended in the Pats favor and today I have $100 more dollars in my bank account.
