Let’s see:
1. Family in for Thanksgiving
2. Going holiday shopping
3. Better games on TV
4. (Could be #1) Bill Legg
Go ahead and add to the list,

More exciting watching paint dry.

Seriously, how much does anyone want to bet that our offense looks different this week? I think people in the Shewey hear what's going on and I wouldn't be surprised for them to try and prove that Legg can open things up. What they don't understand is if they do that and it's successful, people will be twice as mad they didn't do it all season.

The world ended Friday night . . .

The world is still here . . .

It is raining . . .

It is not raining . . .

Its cold . . .

The sun is shining . . .

The sun is not shining . .

Its a day game . . .

Its a night game . . .

ad infinitum . . .

This is really bad timing for a game like last week. Our attendance is usually terrible anyways for the game during thanksgiving. Students are gone and people for some reason see the say after a holiday not to show up. I say make it a family outing. Anyways. Couple that with the second half stretch and it's going to be around 12-15k in the seats. Thr last two ghames were both 19k and change. Fitst time aince 1996 we posted two sub 20k games.

Many are deer hunting this week.
Fans don’t use that excuse at big time programs. If we strive to be the best if the G5 then people have to make it more of a priority. Our fans always have excuses to not go...even when we are exciting and winning. See 2014!!!

Guys that have been going to deer camps since they were kids and get this one week a year with friends and family aren't going to give that up for anything. Im just saying it affects us. Many other states, especially in the south, have extended seasons. In WV it is two weeks sometimes with families planning out a year or more ahead. It may not be important to you but for others it is a big part of their lifestyle.

And let's be honest, if we wan't fans to behave like a "big time program" then we need to not get our ass handed to us by teams like FIU and FAU. Our fans are behaving like the fans of the 3rd or 4th place team in the CUSA east. Don't get mad at our fans, thank Doc and Bill Legg.

Playing at home on the last week of the season is a bad deal., and something we have been handed by CUSA 4 of the last 5 years. In WV, it is the middle of the too short deer season, and the nature of our economy means that there are a lot of people traveling, some coming "home" but some going to where their off-spring have settled. And there are just so many good and meaningful games on TV.

As to the "boycott" ho-ha, it is just 10 or 12 pissed off internet posters. Nothing to see here, move on.

We are not a big time program. We are the third place finisher in our division of cusa.

Agree. I told some buddies at work this is what will happen. Now if Chase can just execute it.

My plans have changed. At the last minute.....our Texas daughter & family are flying to Raleigh for Thanksgiving with in-laws side of the family.. Therefore, we will have our Charlotte Thanksgiving with our son & family on Wednesday....then off to Raleigh early Turkey Day. I hate that I will not be in Huntington to salute the seniors.

Go HERD...beat So Miss.....

I appreciate your passion and all that you do for MU in Lexington. But you have to understand that our attendance is what it is. Huntington has less people, tough economy. Our AD isn't exactly fan friendly.
We average around 24-25K the last few years, this year a little less due to lack of change within the program and poor offensive numbers.
Yeah, it sucks but we can't do anything about it but to encourage friends to come. Marshall controls the rest, promote the games and make the fans feel welcome rather than alienating them with salty tweets and having local writers shame them and take pot shots at the fan base.

I will be there with 3 additional family members... That said, if we get 15K actual people there I would be shocked... Announced attendance will be in the 17-18 range, but actual will be much less as season ticket holders forego the chilly holiday weekend game for other endeavors.

Rhinos I believe you are right but the weather won’t have a part in it. It’s supposed to be in the mid 50’s and sunny Saturday in Huntington.

I agree they have but they shouldn’t pretend they want to be a big time fan. I am from The southern WV mountains. I have understand deer season. In fact....my dad, brother and nephew came back from deer hunting already. They have bought ito a lease so they can hunt on property but they also look at other things.

I am not mad at the fans. I am just pointing out there are always excuses for Marshall fans. In 2014 it was Black Friday shopping. Then the Chanpionship game blame was on the weather. Our fans always want to be the best G5 then they need to act like it. We move a whopping 1.6m from the BG to the athletic department to cover scholarships. While that is a lot of money it is nowhere near what we should be doing.

If we want to be the best and have more money in the budget for coaches people have to step up. I am talking about those fans the claim they are big fans but don’t do anything. We still graduate a good number of students. We all need to recruit them to be in BG and go back.

I don’t disagree with you about losing to FAU and FIU. We absolutely shouldn’t lose to them but like I said....go back to 2014 and look at attendance for WKU and the championship game. We had less than 24k at both. And when we played WKU we were playing for a chance to go undefeated and we had less than 24k show up. That is pathetic. Then the blame was the fans had to go shopping. Undefeated programs shouldn’t lose fans to shopping if they want to be big time and go to an access Bowl. This blame has nothing to do with Doc and Legg. It has to do with our fans making a different choice instead of helping make a program bigger.

Great job Rhino.

No we are not the best now but the point is the fans want a big time program. You want one and I do as well. Me going or not going on a Saturday has nothing to do with any support of the staff. I am supporting the team. We were the best G5 team back in 2014 and our fans still didn’t attend WKU or the championship game. Like I said there is always excuses and next year even if Legg ad/or Doc are gone there will be different excuses. Some are valid but a lot are not.

We never get a good crowd on Thanksgiving Saturday. Our last game of the season should always be played away so that home team has a poor crowd giving us the advantage away!

I was actually thinking of driving up to Huntington from Atlanta, however my next door neighbor just surprised me with a ticket to the Iron Bowl. So this weekend in person it will be War Eagle, but in my heart it's always Go Herd!!
