My next door neighbor is a finance guy over at the big Firekeeper's Casino. Brings in big dough, and talks about all the money his boss and the chief bring in. He talks about their huge mansions and fleets of cars. When he talks about them, all I think about is rifle and all his nice stuff. I imagine rifle is every bit as successful as the chief that runs this Firekeeper's casino. Chief even outlawed smoking inside his casino a couple years back, and opened up a really nice tap house as well. 50 plus beers on tap. I don't go though, because I can't stay out of jail, so I stay home.

Sometimes when I drive the completely empty roads through street after street of abandoned houses I wonder how things got this way. The LA river rushes past, since of course now that no one is here none of the water is being used by industry or agriculture, and I wonder what might’ve been.

Why can’t you admit that policies like this have negative repercussions? Nobody is going to willingly sit back and just hand over more money to the government, especially for a cause like this.

I don’t agree with everything the state legislature does. When they do something I think is dumb I call it dumb. But the level of, let’s call it “concern” right wing pundits have for California goes way past the actual issues we have.

California has a negative population trend when one of the major complaints for decades has been overcrowding and people talk like it’s a failed state. But states like Mississippi are last in academic performance and healthcare, Louisiana is last in crime, West Virginia has the worst infrastructure. These are, to be, bigger problems than anything California is facing.

That isn’t to say we aren’t facing big problems, but let me put it to you this way. I always had a conception that California loved to talk about itself, and it does. But until I came here it never really occurred to me just how much everybody else wants to talk about California. Put that microscope you all want to put on us on some red states and see what you find.
