"There's NOBODY on the roster good enough to replace Fancher..."

Fancher went 10 - 1 and won 9 straight. No reason to even think of replacing him

Fancher lost at NC State but produced very well. No reason to even think of replacing him.

Fancher lost a road game to first place Georgia State, and we still didnt look terrible on offense. No need to replace him

Fancher lost James Madison at home to nationally ranked JMU without Rasheen Ali. No need to replace him.

Fancher lost at Coastal and needed replaced, so he was.

Fancher lost at Appy. Definitely probably not the place to start Cole for the first time, probably should have played Cole late, but didnt.

Cole replaced Fancher as the starter (injury or not) at home against Georgia Southern.

This was the best time to replace him, and arguably the first time that made sense to replace him as the starter.

No need to do it following the NC State game, or even Georgia State or JMU. Appy wasnt the right place, wouldnt have been the best situation for the team to get a win.

What began as a somewhat decent post, quickly dissolved into straight up lunacy.

Stop giving him all the credit for that record. Something you claim you don't do yet do time and time again. Every game he's played it has pretty much been an offensive struggle and like I posted above when the defense had and off night or we lost our #1 back he couldn't get the job done.

Fancher is one of the worst QBs in all of college football and you keep acting like he was the one responsible for that record.

I agree. Your point is even more evidenced by Fancher's inability to continue to win, with much of the offensive woes being due to his lack of QB mechanics.

I don't think anyone is saying he is the future or is going to be his dad. That is just stupid talk and anyone doing it is just being influenced by their love for Chad.

The point is that he is better than Fancher. Now how much better and if he is viable for the future will be yet to be seen. Even if he goes out and throws for 300 and 4 TDs in each of the next 3 games, the staff still needs to recruit QBs like their jobs depend on it. Because they do.

Also Huff said after the game that Legg was spotting the field and Trickett was down on the sidelines so he could get a read on how Cole was reacting to the game. He likened to telling your girlfriend that you missed her over the phone or doing it in person. You can only really know how she's reacting to it if you're there.

Fact is this staff is trying everything right now to save their jobs. As of 11/11/2023 they've bought themselves another week.

Wait, are you saying Legg was calling plays? I thought he was (objectively terrible at) coaching the O-Line...

Did they win the games soley because of his play? No. But did his play help them win? Sure it did. He made plays with his arm and his legs. He didnt make mistakes that cost us games during that time frame.

The QB gets credit for the wins because he is the most important player on the field. The way he plays, the plays he gets the team into, etc. And he was at the helm while the team, led by him, went 10 - 1.
So he get credit for absolutely sucking when we didn’t score an offensive touchdown in over 2 games. Then he gets credit for losing 5 in a row. You can have it both ways

Ok? And? He is a super bowl winning qb now, just as much because of his play and performance than anyone else on the team.
You say a lot of things that are ridiculous... This is idiotic.

Trent Dilfer is literally the example of below-average QB play being good enough if you have arguably the best defense ever, a top 5 RB in the league (at that time), and the league's best special teams unit.

I've been a Ravens fan since the franchise came into existence. Saying Dilfer's super bowl win was "just as much because of his play" as anyone else is dumb... There is a reason the franchise moved on the following season.

Crazy, isn't it? How in the hell Aaron can watch football games his entire life and yet still be so clueless is truly remarkable, but not in a positive way.

Yes he gets credit for the 5 losses, for sure, never said he didnt. He didnt play well enough to win at all. And in my original post I listed the reasons why him starting was the right call.

Fancher is a bad qb. But I can see why the coaches were rolling with him. At one point the team was 10-1 with him as a starter. Now it wasn't because of him we were winning, but we also were not losing with him. Coaches went with him until an injury made them make a change.

How can you say he is bad? He may be hurt which caused the 5 game slide. We know at least one game he played through an injury. Is he the best QB MU has had, no. Although, he may be the best we have at this moment.

I can say he is a bad qb because I have eyeballs and a brain that processes what my eyeballs see. Even when he was "10-1" it was because of our defense. Not only that his stats say so.

8 TD 11 1900 yds passing. Nit including fumbles.

85th passing efficiency

13 ranked qb in the conference.

100 plus ranked qbr.

On and on. Not saying any other qb on the roster is better. Just that he had his shot and it was unimpressive.

Playing hurt is on the coaches, but it doesn't change the fact his performance is bad.
Hell, playing injured is a big reason for bad performance.
But again, that's on Huff forcing him in if he's injured.

Yehh hand the ball off , complete some passes now and then. Don't turn it over. Have one of the best performances by a running back in the modern era and one of the best defenses ever lead by Ray Lewis and a bunch of other head hunters and flat out defensive machines. His job was to not turn the ball over.

No. According to Huff after the game. Legg was in the booth spotting the field. Trickett was still calling the plays, but he wanted to be down on the sidelines with Cole to see how he was reacting to the game and what Trickett was telling him. That they had a rapport built with Cam that they didn't have with Cole.

Huff likened it to telling your girlfriend over the phone that you missed her versus telling her in person. You'll only really know her true reaction if you are right there. For all you know she could be rolling her eyes and being dismissive.

And Trent will tell you that he didn't have much of a hand in that. He just needed to not mess anything up.

Because he was bad. We won most of those games because the defense kept teams under 20 points and we had two NFL backs that ran wild on people. At no point did Cam ever lead the team to a victory. In the games when the defense wasn't playing good and we needed a QB to lead the team he couldn't get it done.

Just like last year against Coastal when the defense spotted them 14 points to start the game and the offense could never overcome that deficit. It's why when we had opportunities in the RZ to put both VT and ODU away the staff opted to play for FG instead of letting their QB take a shot. A single shot from within 15 yards of icing the game.

Cam Fancher in an absolutely terrible QB. I don't care about his legs and his overhyped ability to run. As a passer. He is downright awful and has regressed the longer he's been the QB.
