No big program in their right mind would take this guy as a head coach, great recruiter, more talent than most teams we play, lack of coaching, execution and balls.

I am glad he is here but let's be honest he is not a big program head coach.

With all injuries and outside issues I am still happy with 8-2, beat WKU and win the east , you have the head to head tie breaker win.

It sucks losing this way but the sun will rise tomorrow. If you had the Herd getting 3, you got a push

Well, he recruited these little Scott Norwoods didn't he? So yes, it's on Doc
Well you sure never show the heart of a Marine on here. With you Debby Downer attitude I would never want to have to depend on you in a fox hole. Just my opinion like all your downer crap.

Our OLine continues to haunt us. This goes deeper than just missing field goals. We are missing our power backs. Some of those 3rd string lineman in there are third string for a reason and we have been seeing why We have so many injuries this year......you know I can't remember a year like this injury wise. Who knows how good we really are with so many of our best players out and we will not play a complete game until we get at least some of them back.

On the positive side, Litton shows his moxy over and over. Our defensive alignment needs to be rethought, especially against the run. Allen has been playing good, Reaves as well.

Fox holes are for those who hide. I'm not hiding, and I haven't lost sight of the fact that we were 8-1 due to our pathetic schedule. I didn't buy into the Kool aid and all the "we took the gas pedal off after the half" bullshit. Quite frankly we are overrated and so is this coaching staff. And there have been only a select few on here can and have been willing to say that

Marine said "Fox holes are for those who hide." As I am an Army vet I say Marine you know better. Fox holes are for personal protection and you know that - jarhead!

Doc kicked a FG for no reason with 4:30 left, and wasted a timeout to do it. Still would have been a touchdown game.

Doc couldnt get our offense on the field with 25 seconds left, and we burned a timeout before we ever ran a play. So when we the penalty put us on the 15 with 10 seconds left, we couldnt run a play to center the ball.

Doc tried a FG on 4th and 6 at the endwhen our kickers had missed 6 of their last 7 kicks. I like our chances better getting 6 yds at that point.

Doc continues to employ Bill Legg.

The blame for this loss belongs to several including Doc. Doc is the one that recruits these guys. If we only have 5 decent O linemen on the roster then Doc should have done a better job recruiting depth. Its also not like the 5 original starting linemen are all world either. The O line has struggled all year even with the original 5 starters. And what about penalties by the O line? Every single game the O line has multiple penalties. Thats on Doc and the coaching staff for not correcting the problem.

This is what really concerns me about today.

I liked the FG call with 4:38 left in the game. Didnt like the wasted timeout though. If you make the FG at that point you are playing for the win next time you get the ball back.

Marshall's Defense was going to need another stop either way at that point. Even if you do go for it on 4th and 9 instead of kicking the field goal and you do end up scoring a TD to tie the game, Middle Tennessee is going to get the ball back with all 3 timeouts left and only needing a FG to win. Marshall was unlikely to run out the last 4:38 with the ball on the 20 yard line.

I do agree with you on this point. That was a boneheaded slip up needing to call the timeout. We should have been able to center the ball for Smith to have a much easier kick instead of having him try to make it from the left hash. That is just a bad angle to expect a struggling kicker to make it from. They put Smith in the worst position on that last attempt.

Why do you feel everyone has to come out and say it? Does that make you feel accepted. You really think people can't look at the records and know we aren't elite. What is it? You feel inferior if people don't join you with your Negative Nancy espousing? By the way, your first line says it all. You are probably too arrogant to get out of the fire.

I am an Army guy and I agree with Marine.

Our record is good because we play a crap schedule. This team is mediocre at best with a decent schedule.

Doc chokes away a game or two a year.

Name a head coach that has ever saved his job by saying it was the players fault?

Oh and they are not called fox holes in the Army either. They are fighting positions. We got lit up for ever calling them a fox hole.

With 10 seconds to go in regulation and the kicker struggling I don't see why we don't take one shot into the corner of the endzone. No guarantee that it would have worked but it might have. And if not, then kick it. There was enough time. Bottom line though is we should have taken home the win 20-17. You should be able to rely on your kicker to hit a 32 yard field goal when you need it.

We will win 9 games and they will say wow we did that with a young group.

Give Doc another extension.

Marshall fans fleeced and fooled again

In 2000 we had the same issue with the O-line. We had one guy who started in 99 not return for his sr year due to off season surgery on foot. The starting center had to quit after the Michgan State game due to they found out he only had one kidney he kept passing out. Another in the 2 deep threw his jersey into the crowd when BP started Nate McPeek over him and BP told him to hit the road. I don't recall all of the issues but we were playing with 5-6 Ol all season and it hurt us. as I remember things.

We couldnt take a shot because Litton was injured and had to come off the field. You would be counting on Birdsong to come in and make a throw without forcing it. I dont know many people who would be confident putting Birdsong in there at that time under those circumstances. The biggest problem with the last 10 seconds is Doc had just wasted a timeout because he didnt have the team ready when Marshall got the ball. If the coaching staff doesnt have a mind fart in the last minute of the game we would have been able to center the kick

The big difference is the O line in 2000 made lots of improvement from the beginning of the year till the end which is one reason Marshall ended up wining the MAC Championship that year and ended up beating Cincinnati in the bowl game. The O line was much much better at the end of the year. This 2015 O line has not made any improvement.

No Marine, according to guys on this board, Doc was offered the head coaching position at Pitt, but he turned it down, LOLZ.

Herdalicious, you're the main one. You said last year several times how everyone would be so disappointed because Doc would be gone. Lately, you resurfaced to make those claims yet again this season. It's not impossible, but anyone with a brain could question Doc's success vs one of the weakest schedules in the nation.

Doc isn't terrible, but he isn't going anywhere. Regardless of what koolaide drinkers on this board think, yes the head coach is 100% accountable for his team. It goes without saying the head coach doesn't kick field goals, fumble the ball, etc., but the head coach is 100% responsible and therefore judged by the success or lack thereof his team.

Careful Kelly you're going to be labeled as a hater like myself and herdman. HN is a place where if you're not with the majority opinion you're less of a fan. If you complain about anything or lay blame on Doc for any reason you're not a fan and you're happy when we lose.

my point was that they were banged up and made the best of things just like this years group. Really, if Van Horn was healthy I submit things would be different.. We also lost 5 games that year. The only reason we won the MAC was because games against west foes were not counted in determining who won the east. Otherwise we didn't win the east. Who's to say we don't win out? I mean a 7-5 WKU last year beat a 11-0 Marshall why can't we pull off a win like that?

The O line has played bad all season long including when Van Horn was playing. Marshall has more problems on the O line than just the right tackle position. I do think Van Horn is the best O lineman we have. If Van Horn could get a medical redshirt I would try to do that instead of making a mistake like the coaching staff did with DJ bringing him back.

Why do you and the super fans feel the need to bash those who see us for what we are and state it as such?
Why do you who take such pride in realism think you have to say it over and over and over. I am not saying your opinion is wrong. I simply get sick of you
Debby Downers who think it is your place to repeat the negatives virtually every time you post. Especially the ones who think they can't let a positive post be made without one of their worn out negatives.

First off, Mark Snyder saved his job by blaming the players.

Secondly, the game was not well executed, but sometimes it really comes down to expectations. This team has been hit with injuries...it has also been hit with replacing players. Finally, it was hit with lower expectations across the board...several on here felt we would drop 2-3 games a season.
However, as a WR, you are expected to run your route correctly and catch the ball. As a QB you are expected to throw the ball, check the line, and improvise. As a coach, you are expected to make decisions tonput the team in positions to score and defend. As a kicker you are expected to adjust, aim, and make field goals.
It really came down to the kicker...multiple times he had the chance to redeem himself, thats something you do for someone on the team...he didn't execute...his expectations were short.
However, some on here just will never accept Doc as a head coach...and say he will be stuck here forever...
Winning 10+ games a season, conference championships, NCAA records broken, individual accolades, national noteriety, etc.
Well, I'm glad he is stuck here then...
The schedule has been against us from the start in terms of measuring tools, but hey, Doc has shown he can go on the road and beat notable programs with inexperienced talent...for example, Louisville.
But hey, lets continue to say Doc and his staff are overrated...cause its not like we were picked to win the conference diviosion again this season and its not like we dont control our own destiny.
Oh, that's right...
We are still very much in contention for the East...
I guess Doc has exceeded expectations this year...with about half the team he had the prior year.

Just want to know when Doc might shake up Leggs. All the great coaches have to shuffle coaches in and out as more game footage comes on us more teams are able to shut us down. I appreciate the work Leggs has done but we are too vanilla and predictable . Don't expect Doc to know it all but he can at least make some moves and get some new blood in .
