With the new schedule I actually think we fair better than before. I take us at 2-1 OOC and 6-1 In C-USA for an overall record of 8-2.

Jerry Palm likes us more than most... He says Marshall is going 8-2.

I personally would be okay, given our QB has not taken a snap in a college game, if we make it to 6-4. I'd be pleasantly surprised by anything better than that.

As a side note, Palm has App State finishing with one loss (the best team on our schedule)... He has ECU going 0-10... UAB winning CUSA at 10-1.

6-4. Losses to ECU, APP, WKU and La Tech. Someone is gonna snatch up Clark at UAB soon, the dude is a good coach. Do they still get special recruiting rules? I wouldn't think so.

Even with a weak conference, I’m surprised by the optimism. The other seasons we used a FR QB under Doc (2011, 2015, 2018), we had a good defense to weather the wildly inconsistent play of the new QB. This year we lost like 6 of our front 7 on D if I’m not mistaken... plus our receivers have question marks. Doc’s gonna hand it to Knox 30 times and every opponent knows it. To get to 8-2 it seems like every “if” would have to go our way. 6 wins seems about right to me. I could also see the wheels come off completely if the QB is not ready.

Losses to Appalachian State, ECU, La Tech and WKU. At best we change one of those to a W and end 7-3

8-2, maybe 9-1

We beat ECU and App. St at home. I feel App. State is rated higher then they should be. La. Tech maybe the toughest team we see all year. Doc will choke a game or two, like he is known of doing.

A new QB will be a fresh start and some of the "Insiders" here are claiming we should have a better team them most think. I'm assuming that the QB play will be better then the headcase IG ever put out.

As for Doc, anything short of a Access Bowl (if there is one), he will do the honorable thing and step aside. Like IG and his " Like you try all the time", comment; I feel Doc maybe burned out. He may give this year a little extra because he knows it's his last.

This could be our best season since the Cato years. The OL is made up of veterans, and is deep. I always look at the OL to see what the offense will do. I don't see any areas of concern on this team. Cramsey could prove to be top-notch OC with this team and a QB that can hit his receivers in stride. Injury to Wells could prove disastrous though. I'm excited about the ESPN broadcast on the 5th. Good exposure. A 10-0 season could get us ranked in top 15, especially with so few teams playing this year.

A 10-0 season?... Pass whatever it is you are smokin.

No areas of concern?... How about a QB that has never taken a snap?... We all hope he is going to be good, but there's no way to know that until we see it. (We all hoped Bernie Morris, Jimmy Skinner, Mark Cann, IG, etc were going to be good)

How about a receiving corps that is full of question marks in itself?... Our receivers were bad last year (combined with IG's inconsistent play they were awful as a unit). Somebody other than Willie Johnson has to step up and there is no clear cut guy yet... Maybe Talik Keaton? Maybe the Woodyard kid from Nebraska? Maybe Broc Thompson? Maybe Corey Gammage?... Whoever, we need more than occasional flashes of brilliance.

How about a defensive group that lost half the starting secondary and has one linebacker (Beckett) with any real experience?

Im all for optimism two weeks from the season opener, but let's be realistic. There are plenty of question marks with our depth chart currently, and that doesn't even get into coaching.
