Remember the thread on here a few weeks ago of people slamming Landon. Was his assertion about Johnson's health actually accurate?
Is Johnson done?
Is Johnson done?
High ankle sprains can last the majority of a season.
It's no surprise he remains out. I think we see him suit up for the WKU game.
[QUOTE="oldeherd, post: 219542, member: 163That's one of the real problems: Just what is his injury(ies)? Doc and MU have been as tight lipped as a 3000 year old Egyptian mummy on team injury issues. Does Devon have an ankle sprain or sprains or does he have a back injury? Or both? Maybe Doc is being real coy about it and with a 2 week break before we play WKU, he is wanting them to think that Johnson MAY be a factor in our offense that game. Who knows? Certainly not 99.99% of the Herd fan base.
With the Amount of time Johnson has missed would he qualify for a medical redshirt ? What about van horn ? Just something someone had mentioned to me. But wasn't sure what exactly played into getting a medical redshirt. Although it's seems like the ncaa hands them out like Halloween candy these days.
Its 30% not 25%Johnson will not receive a medical red shirt… Once you play in 25 percent of the teams games for a season that opportunity is gone. Also, I do not think it would be in his best interest to seek one. Playing another year in college is not going to do anything for him regarding a potential pro career. He needs to get healthy and assess his future opportunities.
Van Horn could possibly qualify if he misses the rest of the season. Whether or not he will seek a medical red shirt I don't know.
Its the way he did came about it. Landon could have easily came out and said Im hearing rumors Devon may be more injured than previously thought instead he went out and accused people of endangering kids etc.So what I am reading here is Landon appears to have been right on several counts as it relates to a potential career ending injury to Johnson, but, because CL openly called out Doc, he is an ass who needs be ignored or banned?
What would you change it to?The whole situation is sad. I hope DJ gets a shot one day but I doubt any NFL team will touch him with his injury problems. Its really sad. The kid was a really good RB and when healthy one of the best in the nation. Its a shame that he only had 1 good season with us then got injured. Would have loved to see a healthy DJ for 3 years at RB. Would have been something to watch. Kid had knack for finding the hole.
As for the NCAA rule on medical redshirt, it needs to be changed. The kid was robbed of his career because of a dumb rule that just because he played a handful of plays in a couple games that he can't ever play college ball again. That is BS.
it will be interesting to see if he participates in Senior Day activities this Saturday.
Its almost as if Doc dressed Johnson and played him one more time as if to mock the "inaccuracies" after that article was written....only to have Johnson to mysteriously disappear from the sidelines again a game or two later.
Extremely odd to me that a player who was one of the top running backs in the country last year appears to suffer a career ending injury and not a peep from the program. I am not suggesting the complete specifics need be shared, but damn, give a chance to the fans who cheered this kid on, an opportunity to support this kid in some way if it is over. Makes little sense what the big damn secret is at this point.
Well, you can pretty much thank Chuckles for ruining it. Because of both his inability to write medical terms (which is kind of important) and actively accusing Doc of somehow endangering this guy's career (again, a real big issue with people, bordering on slander in which he could be sued) has made the AD justifiably decide to both limit Chuck's access and not reveal much of what's going on.
Honestly, at this point, nobody minus immediate family, team, coaching, and that's basically it, should know whats going on. All you guys do is decide to "give your opinion" on it, which turns into accusations, jumped conclusions, and overall just stupid banter...
Plus, if anything, DJ was likely given the choice on if he wanted the injuries revealed or not. That is, if I am not mistaken, his choice...not yours or anyone else's. I'm sure if any of you had family who had a medical procedure, you'd probably like to control who knows about it and who doesn't.
Who the hell knows what's going on with him...he could honestly be a game time decision for WKU...that'd be something to really mess with them if he dressed for it. But again, it's speculation at this point...but it's no matter...if Doc or even DJ came out to reveal what his status is, someone on here would begin to complain and question the program...and that's bitching we just don't need.
But of all things, it's Chuckles that really made this into what it is...and as I said, Doc and the AD at this point, have every right to keep it from him and us...maybe they'll keep doing that...maybe it'll annoy the fans enough to shake down the H-D to get Chuck to be forced to cover the local HS basketball games...who knows....Go Herd!
Got it. Chuckles is the reason Devon got hurt and is not playing and will most likely not play again. Yep. Makes total sense.
Putting together several letters makes a word. A grouping of these with appropriate spaces forms a sentence.
This procedure is called "Reading."
So "read" this...
No moron, Chuck Landon is the reason why nobody is reporting Devon Johnson's injury or saying anything about it.
I'm surprised no students have discovered "the truth" about Johnson's injury. Doesn't he go to class anymore?
In fact, had the program been a little more informative of the injury in the beginning....(e.g. "We understand that there are some questions swirling regarding Johnson's injury. At this point all we know and can divulge is that it appears to be a back injury. We are attempting to ascertain the extent of that injury with our medical teams. If Johnson is able to return to the field safely; the program, the fans, and the media will be first to know. We are hoping for a full, fast recovery, but, at this point we are preparing to play without Johnson for the foreseeable future)
