Window help

My father was a physician who enjoyed home improvement projects. He bought the best tools, but unfortunately, he had neither the time or the knowledge to use them. He would take his ideas to a contractor or fabricator and let them do all the work. Smart man.

Yeah my dad was an engineer and did everything by himself. He can do it all. Me, not so much.

Back when I was poorer and had time without kids I would tackle stuff myself - patching walls, changing seats/springs on plumbing, simple wood shelves.

I just don't have the time and I want better quality than what I can produce now. I like to brainstorm with the pros and then let them execute.

Been thinking about it Doc. I would just enclose the window. It is not really ever going to be right. My guess is the window was there and when the bathtub was added it was only meant for a tub. If you want to keep the window, you might consider having the bathtub torn out and just putting a stand up show in, but that is still going to be a hard fit.

I'll try to get a pic from the outside and you all can tell me if it would look wonky just bricked over and it will look like it was never there. I think it will probably be fine but the wife is going to flip I bet. I'll need to calm her down and/or threaten to take back the plans to get her a new SUV.

Keep her happy, Doc. Life will be easier. Geezers idea would work as well, but are you going to take away from the point of the window by doing that?. You could also maybe make a smaller half window up higher???

Don’t know if this has been solved, didn’t read the whole thread, but I had this same issue in my first house.

We took the window out and replaced all the wood trim with PVC trim. You can find it so it comes very close to the original profile and blends well. Instead of putting a window back in, we did glass block. It’s period and was used in the 1920s. It improves privacy, allows the light in, and the water won’t bother it at all.

If properly installed and caulked you will have zero issues.

Im
Good at mowing grass but I barely can remember to change an air filter in the hvac every three months.
I try to remember to change mine at or around the change of the seasons because it is easier to remember. Even with that, I still sometimes forget.

we did glass block.
I always wanted to do a project with glass block. I have a friend who bought all the glass blocks when they tore down the Glass House rest stops on the WV Turnpike. He used some of them to build a shower. Nice look.
