30,000 people die in Britain on NHS waiting list last year

With tuition rising and salaries decreasing there's little incentive to go into the medical field now days.

If those people would have worked harder or studied more, they would be able to afford better and faster treatment elsewhere. If the wait is too long, then too bad. I am sick of paying for all of these deadbeats who can't afford a private doctor or a plane ticket to get faster treatment. My dollars are already paying for you to take advantage of this welfare program. If you don't want to wait for your free healthcare, then you should have done better in life.

Natural selection. You believe in science, not God, right? Then you fully understand that natural selection makes the species stronger and smarter.

That's right! In fact, we should just expedite the process. Those who aren't a certain height, a certain BMI, and have a minimum IQ should be dealt with. I don't care if they are sent to their own island or extinguished another way, but why are we allowing the weak among us to take up so much of our oxygen? Instead of improving civilization, we are stunting it simply to help those who don't have the ability or desire to be a functioning part of society.

In school, we sequestered the retards and pinheads to their own rooms away from those of us who can contribute to society, because we didn't want them to slow down our success. The same should be done with these bums who have to wait in line for free healthcare. Tens of thousands are dying, because they can't afford a $1000 plane ticket and a credit card to put their health costs on in the U.S. Why should those successful Brits have to help pay for them to sit around and die?

It's always the privileged kids who tell everyone else how they should live, believe and spend their money.

Natural selection has nothing to do with making species stronger and smarter. It has to do with assuring the reproduction of the specie. Since statistically educated people delay having children to pursue that education and have fewer kids, a case could be built that natural selection in humans actually favor the poor and less educated. Survival of the strongest and fittest is a misnomer. Just ask the dinosaurs.

The area you claim to reside, is going through complete devestation, but here you are, posting retarded jibberish.

Sounds legit.
Michigan herd you are a fool and a goof. I am 40 miles away from where Michael came ashore. My office is even farther. We had minimal storm surge and minimal destruction as 95 percent of the structures built here, were built in the last 20 years under current hurricane code.
My home is 16 feet above sea level hell the surge didn’t even crest the dunes here. Thanks for caring and wishing complete destruction and devistation for my family but we are all in great shape here. Now on to the Wisconsin Michigan game this weekend. Wouldn’t miss it for the world.

I hope you really don't feel that way. I work in a hospital and every day the staff works with great care to save lives and increase the quality of life for all. Sometime when you have a few extra minutes I invite you to join me when I stand in a room with a young couple whose baby died in childbirth or an ED with a family when the news is shared that dad didn't make it through the Code Blue. Every life is precious in my world, even the ones that bring crap on themselves by poor choices. The opiate crisis is real and every single soul lying on a sidewalk is someones son or daughter. I hope one day when you are an old man with nobody to care for you besides some health care worker you will understand that every human has value which has been endowed by God.

A new report by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) predicts that a shortage of physicians in the U.S. is going to grow worse.

The report estimates a shortfall ranging from 34,600 to 88,000 doctors by 2025, compared to what our growing and aging population may need. By 2030, the shortfall is expected to total anywhere from 40,800 to 104,900 doctors.

EG it seems that due to the physician shortage, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, will fill the role in the days to come. I think the shortage of RN is real but this is not the first time this has happened. It will correct itself.

There’s been a nurse shortage for 30 years yet there are nurses everywhere that can’t get jobs. Nursing schools are stuffed full etc. I’m not buying the nurse shortage

This cycle is different. You have both the problem of an aging baby boom population that will need taken care of, and the fact that baby boomer RN's are retiring at the same time.

sure, I don't disagree with that EG I just think it will correct itself...I could be wrong- time will tell.

"...assessed death rates after taking into account education, income, and many other factors, including smoking, drinking, and obesity."

Anyone actually think giving someone "free" healthcare is going incentivize folks to get off the couch, stop eating, stop buying smokes & beers?

RN unemployment rate is low, and so is the rate for LPNs.

I'm just taking the stance of some of your fellow deplorables.

The greater majority of "baby boomer" RN's do not work in direct patient care, aka "floor nurse." They can't, because the job is too physically demanding.

The aging population, like yourself, will be in AL and LTC facilities, which are staffed primarily with LPN's.

They can already walk into any ER and get "free" healthcare, moron (in honor of EG's return).

Since you highlighted "free", I am going to assume you mean people on welfare who drink, smoke, and eat junk (fvck it, the rich can do as they wish). Let's be honest: they are more likely to do these things already, so why incentivize they quit? Hell, let's get them to croak ASAP, save some money. If we are lucky they will all have cancer and die by 40. We can put extra formaldehyde in the cheap cigarettes.

Maybe you can get the Bible Thumping wing of your party to convince people to give up drinking and smoking.

Seriously, who gives a fvck? There will always be some free-riders, drunks, people who eat three Whoppers a day. It's been that way since Biblical times. Outliers is no way to design policy.

Doesn't matter. The RNs still have to be replaced.

Not the older RN's, who are working as case managers, QA/QI, and other bullshit positions in which the individual doesn't have to be a nurse.

The shortage will no longer be in direct patient care, but will be in educators. There's no incentive for nurses to become PhDs.

Maybe businesses that pay $8 an hour can afford to offer health insurance.

I don't expect a logical discussion about this with someone getting rich off the status quo....it is like debating the drug issue with Tyrone from Detroit.

This is where your ‘smartest man in the world’ status really takes a dive. Part of what I do for the bank is broker health-insurance for businesses. Obamacare has basically ran everybody out of the market. If a company wants to purchase health insurance, it’s nearly impossible. It’s so expensive because there is no competition anywhere, and the rules are insane.
