So, in order to survive a business must be able to provide effective customer service, be attentive to the wants and needs of its customers, build customer and employee trust, manage its employees, maintain employee morale, protect and safeguard its assets, operate as efficiently as possible, reward fiscal responsibility, be flexible and innovative, and turn a profit.

So why wouldn't a government operate under those same premises? If it did, maybe many of the following could have been mitigated if not even avoided...
