30 years ago today was the Battle of Mogadishu. It is also commonly known as Black Hawd Down and Task Force Ranger.

This was the biggest battle fornUS Forced since Vietnam. There were a lot of lessons learned. There was tremendous loss of life and many wounded and scarred troops.

The USA lost 18 men thar day. They came from the unit commonly know as Delta Force, US Army Rangers, and the 10th Mountain Division.
There were over 70 more US troops wounded. Many losing limbs and wounded severely.

2 solider from Delta were posthumously awarded The Medal Of Honor. Their legacy remains legendary to this day at Ft Bragg. Many also were awarded silver stars and recently many of the Rangers had their awards reviewed and upgraded.

It estimated US Troops killed between 300 and 500 Somalia militia.

There are several podcasts out now where military members talk about that day. If you are into history they are worth watching. Some of their first hand accounts will make your eyes look like you are peeling onions.

The US military changed a lot that day. Much of the training and moden doctrine came out of that battle.
